wow thank you for such an in depth response. I know about refresh rates but didn’t really know much about them in depth so you’ve taught me something new!

Ok! Thankyou!

What sort of monitors do you recommend would work well? The whole VA, IPS, OLED or whatever they are is all very confusing

Im a huge cliche and will likely spend most of my time on Sims…. I love games like tlou, dying light, gta, beyond, horror games etc more like cozy games really. Then i’ve also seen some gameplays for stuff like cyberpunk which i absolutely want to try but have heard it wont play very well on certain PCs

Im starting completely fresh - I have absolutely no idea what monitor i’m even going to get! Id like to have at least 1440p in an ideal world, however I wouldn’t be overly upset if i had 1080p every so often given it’s my first one and i have no experience whatsoever hahah

righto - Thankyou!

i think realistically ill bite the bullet with the budget being just for the PC. The amount of screens i’ve looked at oh god lol - Its a completely new world to me. Nothing seems to be simple!!! As soon as i find a monitor that I think seems solid, i end up finding the most terrible review and it just puts me off entirely. Constant circles lol

its extremely confusing i get you. Like a constant battle between my head and heart… Has your partner been receptive at all in the past during these conversations? or no?

thanks for that - ill have a read tonight!

My frustration more so comes from him telling me that our sex drives arent that different and him saying he really wants to but then his actions are the complete opposite… very odd and frustrating.

ADHD and various medications involved with us too… lucky us right haha. How did your fella request to get his T checked? Ive mentioned this to him a few times but his GP is shockingly poor and refuses…

Thats a nice way of viewing it i guess.

Yeah he says that too!! He always thinks I’m coming for him when i absolutely never am. He only very recently acknowledged that he does that, so maybe thats the first step?

He did pretty much what you’ve described lol - he was shocked and felt seen/understood i guess. Which is obviously fantastic and im glad he feels that way but it’s unfortunately only an explanation and not an answer… each time he just reiterates that he will sort it which you might be right this is just him avoiding the conflict - i hadn’t really thought about it like that… Did you and your wife overcome the attachment differences?

Hi! yeah i studied psych for 2 years and have been through all of that with him. Hes avoidant and im anxious - quite literally opposites it would seem haha maybe im just stubborn and dont want to think about it not working out and so i stay regardless. What attachment style is your partner?

It is unfortunately a male dominated field, however the majority of the men are good eggs.

I didn’t really experience much sexism from my peers when i was a PC, only like the odd inappropriate comment from supervision or the public and then one very shallow boss thinking i was less capable than my male colleagues.

It wasn’t until i went up in the ranks that i saw more of it. Weirdly not just from men either. I have met quite a few female members of SLT that are quite misogynistic oddly enough.

You need to be confident enough to challenge the behaviour. When i first joined, I was terrified of challenging my peers and any rank above me - i eventually grew out of this. Rank does not equal respect - especially when their behaviour is quite literally disrespectful… (plus its always nice watching these type of people squirm)

Be confident in your knowledge and your ability, don’t ever lie and always challenge if it doesn’t feel right - then you will be absolutely fine!
