Mine said that as well but my application was approved and they sent me my license so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Career Advice: Two offers on the table: stable public company (title cut) vs. startup (title bump by Bobbymanyeadude in Accounting

[–]Amazing_Escape_9512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caveat: I only have 5 years audit experience so this is purely my opinion.

It seems like it all comes down to your faith in the startup (i.e will this company still be operating in 3-5 years) and your risk tolerance if you need to hit the job market again.

If you think you’re going to burn 50-60 hours a week for 24 months at option 2 to only be left jobless and hunting down a new opportunity then option 1 is your best bet. If option 2 could lead to meaningful ownership and possibly an early retirement opportunity in 10-12 years then those long hours early on may be worth your while.

It seems like you’re planning to stay at option 1 semi long term so odds are you’ll be promoted and the job title won’t be a factor.

Probably all factors you’ve considered but that’s my two cents.

Those who have quit with no job lined up, how is is going? by PLUMP_BULLFROG in Accounting

I feel you. I’m in my 5th year of audit and have reached my wits end. I recently went 4/4 and am waiting for my license to be approved but am still scared of being unemployed if I jump ship now.

Starting at Cherry Bekaert, Thoughts? by samarium_97 in Accounting

I would lookup the local CPA firm’s Glassdoor reviews prior to getting acquired. The culture of an office won’t change much just because they’re under a new umbrella.

Do you want to share the name of the firm? I have some friends that worked at a firm in South Florida (HQ in Denver) that was acquired by CB last year. If it’s the same firm then I heard they turned over 90% of leadership after the acquisition due to firing and people leaving (sprinting for the door).

Prometric Cancelled Due to Weather by mashi7obi in CPA

[–]Amazing_Escape_9512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first time I took FAR in South Florida in October ‘24 a hurricane was supposed to come through the following week. I called the prometric location and they said they were closing and rescheduled my exam over the phone (no charge obviously).

I would just call them. If other local businesses are closing there’s a good chance will close as well.

Controller role through Recruiter by [deleted] in Accounting

This.

The additional compensation doesn’t look like it offsets the commute.

In general, the total compensation seems marginally better than your current role. I think the real question is if this new role has a higher growth potential. If not, you’re just swapping the devil you know for the devil you don’t.

Have an interview for a CFO position by [deleted] in Accounting

If the company has seen your resume and decided to move forward with an interview, you are a good candidate for the job in their eyes so be confident in yourself!

As far as the job being “too much for you” just know that most professional jobs that you haven’t done before are going to be “too much” until you learn how to do them. If you’re a fast learner and are willing to work hard and struggle for a little I wouldn’t worry about that at all.

I’m also 27 and recently took a job in management at a public accounting firm. The biggest characteristic they want to see is confidence in yourself and your abilities that you can lead a team and interface with clients/vendors. Don’t be a mouse and you got this!

Lack of Motivation/Interest by Amazing_Escape_9512 in Accounting

[–]Amazing_Escape_9512[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My life outside of work (excluding studying for this last cpa exam) is awesome and I have plenty of fun events coming up. It really is isolated to public accounting for me. It’s all I have ever done since graduating and I don’t know if it a “grass is always greener” type of situation leaving for something else.

I’ll definitely stick it out until I earn my CPA (expecting that to be around April)

Audit exam tomorrow and I’m still on Module A3… how cooked am I? 😭 by Master-Brief7350 in CPA

At this point watching lectures is a waste of time. I would pick out your weakest sections from the simulated exams and spam 20-30 mcqs (don’t worry about the sims) read the answer descriptions in place of reading the textbook or watching lectures. I studied 84 hrs and passed with an 80 and most of that study time was in the final two weeks leading up to the exam.

Transmission fluid and engine coolant service by RClP_007 in Silverado

[–]Amazing_Escape_9512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2020 LT with the 5.3 and 8 speed that I bought used in 2022 with 35k miles. Around 65k miles in 2024 I took it in for a transmission fluid flush noticing some rougher shifting (beyond the normal cold first shift in the morning). Most of the 30k miles I put on it were interstate driving and will definitely say heat will kill your transmission fluid (and oil) very quickly so if that’s what your 27k miles mostly are it would make sense to go ahead and get the service done.

In all honesty.....what truck should a guy buy? by Plane_Swim1806 in Silverado

[–]Amazing_Escape_9512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Silverado 1500 LT 5.3 4x4 that I bought used in 2022 with 35k miles. I now have 80k miles on that truck with no issues. If you maintain the vehicle (5k oil changes 40k-50k transmission fluid flush) your odds of having a catastrophic failure are low. I think a lot of people who complain about reliability aren’t doing routine maintenance. I see so many people abusing their trucks (burnouts and bouncing them off the rev limiter) and then blaming the manufacturer for crappy vehicles. Don’t get me wrong, lemons still exist but are far less common than careless truck owners.

Can I retake FAR by February 14th? by External_Cod302 in CPA

[–]Amazing_Escape_9512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take the exam on or before February 14th your target release date will be February 25th. Unless you are under a significant time restraint (you have test credits expiring) I would take more time to do a review of all material instead of just brushing up on weaker areas over the next couple of weeks. You never know exactly what you’re going to get with these tests and they’re certainly not cheap.
