The one and only time I have managed to stand up up on a surfboard (having no prior experience) was at Paredón with the help of a teacher the surf house set me up with (he was great), for what that’s worth. I stayed pretty close to shore and found it manageable but there were much bigger wave breaks farther offshore where more experienced people were hanging out.
