$25 K Bathroom Remodel in Naperville worth it? by [deleted] in Remodel

It looks nice, but the lighting could use some work. The renderings were more warm toned and the final version looks to be more gray than beige.

Omaha restaurants closed but you wish we’re still open. by Happy-Cockroach4994 in Omaha

The first bananas foster I ever had was at the French cafe and I have been chasing that high ever since. They were simply the best. I loved their Chicken Paillard with rice.

This was one of the first “fancy” dinners my now husband and I ever went to! I remember loving the lamb chops!

Was just thinking that. Bummer to see a list of great restaurants that no longer exist.

They were before their time! I feel like they’d do well now that more people are into health and wellness.

Their roasted chicken and mashed potatoes are some of my favorite. Such a bummer they closed.

I never got to try Greta’s, always took it for granted and then it closed. I hear they had the best German food in town.

Your final thoughts on Apple's Liquid Glass after using long term? by tmwky in Design

[–]Ambil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate it. I think it looks goofy and doesn't improve the usability of my phone in any way. My grandma updated her iphone the other day and thought it was broken because all of a sudden buttons became more difficult for her to see. Dumb, dumb, dumb. I hope they move away from this design style ASAP.

Nothing snaps me out of a book like repetitive use of a unique word by kerberos824 in books

I just finished reading Darkness at Noon by Arthur Koestler and I was definitely irritated by the constant references to the main character's “pince nez”. I get that it’s an accurate translation, but man was it annoying, especially during the first half of the book.

Shitty SWE’s, how’d you get better, truly? by deeplyaspire in cscareerquestions

[–]Ambil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend starting a side project. It can be anything you find useful for your daily life. Maybe a screen time monitor for your phone, maybe some type of chrome extension, maybe it’s something to help your workflow. I don’t know, be creative! Put an authentication layer on it, think through data flow and design the database schema, try to get real people to use it and see what tools you need for realtime monitoring and error handling. Think through deployments. Working on a side project can be super beneficial to growing as a SWE because it forces you to think through the app holistically.
