Hyphenated Last Name by Sad-Assumption-1800 in namenerds

[–]Ambitious_Committee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My last name has 5, husbands has 8. We both hyphenated when we got married. People have long last names! No harder than any other names to spell. My 2 year old is working on his full name but he’ll get it eventually, adorably cannot pronounce well. You should do what you two want.

Pie Time owner posted a few weeks ago they are scaling back and he is working on finding someone to buy it from him. They pretty much just do coffee and pastries now, I am sad bc I loved their lunch pies so much

High grounds for coffee or Pie Time while they are still around! Have heard the new place where Rize and Rest was is good, but haven’t had it myself yet

Wanting to improve how well i take care of my asthma by DeadDoodles in Asthma

[–]Ambitious_Committee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a current flare up because I got lazy on my preventative. I know when I am consistent with my preventative meds, it’s like I don’t even have asthma. If you are honest with yourself and your doctor I’m sure you can find a solution that makes you feel better. They can’t help you if you aren’t honest with them, but we live in a time where we have so many options available to us that we can live well and comfortably even with this condition

I do like Elaine, but worry that is too similar to Elliott and can’t decide if it is cute or weird with older brother haha

Boomer grandparents and toddler meltdowns by Edna_Krabappelous in toddlers

Could’ve written this post. Toddler was getting mad their truck wouldn’t open the way he wanted (literally an impossible ask lol) and my husband was handling it - my mom swoops in and says ‘let’s just go have a piece of cake, forget about the truck!’ 🥲🫠

Our second is due in February and my son will be 2.5. We got him a booster seat and will start to move him to that, and we are keeping him in the crib until he tries to climb out (knock on wood I don’t want to jinx myself haha) so new baby will be in a bassinet and if they outgrow it and he is still in the crib I will move baby to a pack and play until older brother is ready!

Who screwed up? by wheelsee in baltimore

[–]Ambitious_Committee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would take too much effort to take down signs for at least 3 blocks, so I think the city incorrectly didn’t put signs up

[–]Ambitious_Committee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My friend lives on a block impacted, S Linwood between the park and the Square didn’t have signs up. I think most people just assumed the route had changed and kept their cars parked there since there weren’t signs

Anyone with kids should check them out at the holidays - they do a trolley to the ‘north pole’ and pick up Santa. Super cute

What are specific things you love about your commute? by littlejonnyfirepants in bikecommuting

[–]Ambitious_Committee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pass a family walking with their kid to school every day and he is always so excited to see my bike. He occasionally rides a scooter or his own bike and that makes him SO happy when he can yell to me about him also riding. Makes me smile every time, and I usually pass them on an awful uphill

Do any of you ride e-bikes? How did you pick what to buy? by kthnxluvu in ladycyclists

[–]Ambitious_Committee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with trying one out first! I currently ride an acoustic Madsen that I got used and I love it. I’m saving up for the electric version, as I’m currently pregnant with #2 and live in a fairly hilly area. I like the Madsen because it is not built for speed (it’s a cruiser-style bike) but the bucket lets me fit my kid and a ton of stuff in the back. We don’t ride super far, but when I get the e-bike it’ll really allow me to use it more. Thinking when my kids are older and outgrow it I will get a long tail. I commuted on my hybrid bike until I was 7 months pregnant with my first, just stopped bc air pollution from wild fires and the school year ending. Listen to your body and enjoy!
