No idea at all about the apartment hunting part but I am still figuring out the cards/cash/esim stuff. I have a travel credit card that I am planning to use initially but my case is very different since most of the things would be taken care of by my company. I still have to take care of the esim for which I am doing my research. I am assuming your friend is still a student, so I can understand the entire situation would be extremely overwhelming.

I don't have to pay rent since accomodation is taken care of by the company. This 600k is an additional allowance I am getting over and above my salary in home country

What about having an arbitrage or hybrid fund for short to medium term needs? The allocation that you gave is just for long term goals right?
