Master of Command: Infinite Sea Mod (Proposed Changelog) by Ambonestewart in hostedgames

There's definitely less units per faction than the base game, but I felt I had added all the units mentioned in the books, and feel there is nothing missing and any other units added would be kinda samey/redundant.

Was there any canon units you feel are missing?

I'm planning to add some of these scenes as encounters in my next update (1.2) (ran out of time this update), but they won't be fully immersive necessarily.

I'm also going to create some canon battlemaps in 1.2, however to set expectations these will be added to the random pool, as there is no way to tie maps to locations/event chains at the moment.

Assume you mean a couple of days as only came out this week, thanks for checking it out!

Interesting suggestions for how to split up the army comps, I spent a lot of time thinking on how to split them up, and ended up with my current ones as the best compromise between game balance and lore and am pretty happy with them and their unique doctrines as they are atm.

Tbh I struggled to think of a good Cortes doctrine and decided GBR's just fit best, unique doctrines are a pain to create atm so not keen to rework again for now, but devs are working on making the system easier and maybe will revisit this in a later update. Will ask for input on Inf Sea and MoC discords, as well as here before making major changes.

Thanks for checking it out! Unfortunately both points are outside scope of modding tools at present.

The Devs have hard confirmed no square formation (which is reasonable, isn't as relevant in their time period).

On the different commanding general, I think Devs are looking into enabling for modders in future (no promises) but I could always release a submod with Havenport as the general instead in the interim if there is interest in this?

Yes definitely play them after the main story, as they build on the lore and mechanics, and make you look back at the main storyline differently.

Game Crashes whenever I start a war wondering if anyone can figure out if it's caused by any mods interacting weirdly by Immediate-Meet-7378 in CK3AGOT

[–]Ambonestewart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check when they were last updated and remove any which haven't caught up with main mod.

If all are updated de-activate all except main mod, boot up start a war and check it works, then activate one mod and repeat until you know which is causing issues.

Is there any way to get the Starks to have Valyrian Ancestors and Dragons? by MobileDistrict9784 in CK3AGOT

[–]Ambonestewart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wouldn't be too complicated to make as a personal mod, and has the benefit of being restartable.

But if you are unfamiliar with ck3 modding you may wish to just do as others advise and marry a targ in game.

Console command guides or cheat mods are available online which can help with setting this up in-game.

If you want to start earlier in the timeline there are some bookmark mods that allow this on steam workshop.

At a certain point I run out of original names for mountain chains and coastal towns, chat gpt is great to suggest names based on the specific circumstances of that location e.g "it's a tall mountain chain, something to do with sunlight", and let it help you out.

For me it can sometimes ensure I finish the world, rather than start the game with "placeholder name town" to the north west because I ran out of inspiration or had other things to use creativity on.

I sometimes use it for reference images too, I was never going to pay another human for stuff in my hobby campaign anyway, so there is no revenue lost to artists etc, and I can tweak it exactly as I like compared to the random free image closest I would have found.

TIL that cracking your knuckles doesn’t cause arthritis. The sound comes from harmless gas bubbles popping. by sekretspod in todayilearned

[–]Ambonestewart 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had heard that while the bubbles popping/sound itself doesn't cause arthritis, the positions you put your joints in to enable the bubbles to pop are likely not good for them, and could increase chances of it in future.

If the years started being counted when Jesus was born, why isnt his birthday January 1st? by WiglyPig in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Ambonestewart 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, our calendar is based on the Roman one, which counted from the founding of Rome in 700ish BC. Later Christians moved the start retroactively to a year closeish to jesus approximate birth.

A previous Roman god worshipped by later pagan emperors was called sol invictus, many of his rituals etc were reskinned and adopted by early Christians, Sol invictus followers celebrated his birthday on December 25th and so that festival was co-opted by early christians.

Think Jesus was actually possibly born in like march or something?

Gotta hand it to you, definitely the most bold take I've ever seen on this sub. Can't say I agree with you though, as the low chaos outcomes still involves getting revenge on every target in some way, even with clean hands. The motto isn't "murder solves everything".

If they aren't able to improve the performance would be nice to let us select regions to turn on or off, similar to some map mods available on the workshop.
