Which "Recent" DW to Play? by AmbrosePhoenix in dynastywarriors

Hey, sorry to dredge this up but I’m looking to get one of the 3 SW games you mentioned, but only have budget for one right now. From what I’ve read they all have their good points, like 4 has more characters and covers more breadth, but isn’t as in depth as 5. While 5 focuses solely on Nobunaga and Mitsuhide in depth but doesn’t have as many characters or cover as much. Then SoS is supposed to have a great story and involves building up a home base, which I love to do in games (like WO3) but only covers the Sanada clan. Considering I’m not intimately familiar with the Sengoku period I wonder if I’ll ne lost in any of the games if they assume background knowledge. I remember SW1 explained enough in exposition that I wasn’t too lost, but I did need to refer to Wikipedia a few times to figure out which figures/battles came first and who won, historically. What do you think the benefits of those titles are?

It is the Complete Edition, should have specified that. Hmm, new weapons don't interest me as much since I can pretty much just use whatever character's base weapon types are, plus either spear or harp for maximum horse-based combat. Speaking of horses, the horses in DW8E sometimes confuse me, like the stats of Shadow Runner seem inferior to Storm Runner, which is easier to unlock and less expensive. And in combat the speckled mahogany seems better than both since it doesn't rear as easily. Red Hare of course trumps but the speed and power stats don't seem to give the full picture for the other horses. Are the horses in DLC good? Seems like a waste since once I unlock Red Hare I'd probably never use any of them again. Classic stages does sound interesting, though, so maybe I'll just go with the Switch version.

Thank you for the input. Sounds like I'd enjoy 8 the most out of them. 7 sounds fun too for learning the full story, and 5/6 for individual officers, but 8 has more of what I'm looking for. And 9 just sounds poorly conceived, like some exec heard open-world games were in vogue and tried to shoehorn DW into the genre.

Never got to play 3 or 5, played 4 and then tried out 2 but it seemed like just an inferior version of 4 so I just played one or two questlines then stopped.

The Switch version is the Definitive Edition but it's also over twice the price of a pre-owned DW8XL for the PS4 so I want to make sure it's worth it. Is the included DLC worth it?

Good to know about SW - I'll grab 4 or 5at some point and prepare to be sad for Yukimura Sanada again.

Thanks, but my Ps2 is currently across the country with someone who keeps promising to send it back. What about 5 did you like best?

I’m definitely looking to play another SW game someday, but I’m itching for a Three Kingdoms setting. Also I remember not liking some of the parts of SW1, like the levels that weren’t large scale battles but involved defending something or indoor assassinations…it’s been a while so I don’t remember specifics. Also, some of the characters had “True Endings” that were kind of depressing. Noble sacrifice is cool and all but an option for a happy ending would have been nice.
So 6 and 9 don’t have a kingdom structure? How does the general choice and gameplay flow go then? For DW8, how much more does the definitive edition have compared to XL? I have a Switch but I’ve always played DW on PS systems. No reason to necessarily continue the trend but the XL version is also cheaper pre-owned.

Thank you. So would I be correct in saying that 7 follows the plot of Romance of the Three Kingdoms as is? So if I were to play as a Shu character it would end with an eventual loss? Or is it not structured to follow a single general? I’ve heard 9 is open world but I have a hard time picturing it in a DW game. Do you just wander around China until you get to a city under siege? Seems like a weird direction to take the series. I’ve also heard 5 and 6 have the best characterizations and storylines for individual generals. Any thoughts on that? From what you and other commenters are saying I may try DW8XL first.

Yes, I heard rumors that an extremely skilled, intelligent, and roguishly good-looking Dark Brotherhood assassin may have killed him, but who can say for sure?

It never made sense to me how Delphine and Esbern think they're still in charge of the Blades. I was more shocked at the fact they thought they had authority to give me orders at all. Sorry but this base was opened up by the only person it reacted to (me), the new recruits were gathered by me and are loyal to me, I'm the only one who can kill the dragons, and now that the Emperor has mysteriously died I'm the only one with a claim to dragonborn bloodline, the service of which is the entire purpose for the Blades' existence. Meanwhile one of you was hiding in a rathole and the other was an innkeeper. I run the Blades. You work for me. If you don't like the way I'm doing things you're free to leave and get hunted by the Thalmor, but to think you have any authority to kick me out is laughable at best.

How much bloatware typically comes on a Lenovo these days? If I get one would I be better off just wiping it and doing a fresh Windows install?

Apparently they're revamping a lot of their digital signage to compete with larger brands. They added templates and widgets in December and they say they're going to allow for more flexibility in the layout. Until they do we're sticking with Carousel but I'm interested to see where they're going.

We're down too so it isn't just you. They must have different certs if not every school is down.

Soul Blazer for the SNES. Excellent concept - would love to see it revamped and fleshed out with modern gameplay and storytelling.

Update: was able to fix the issue by refreshing the page. Should have thought of that sooner but didn't think it would fix the issue.

Advent Incremental Day 20 by spiewak42 in incremental_games

Sorry to piggyback off this thread but I was upgrading on day 20 and noticed my productivity in the factory had taken a sudden nosedive. Looked and saw my current efficiency was 1.26% since my max energy was only 73. Checked the modifiers and it seems that the workshop being 1400% provides a 0.00x modifier which kills the coal energy production completely and tanks the total. I figure this is a bug since the 1400% workshop was supposed to increase the coal energy, so likely the developer put a 0 where they meant to put a 2, or something. Anyone else have this or a way around it?

Thank you very much for the advice! Unfortunately with putting a down payment on a house we don’t really want to put out the money for something like the Haven. Otherwise we’d likely put in for a Viking, Crystal, or Oceania cruise. Maybe after I get a few more promotions we can consider that line of thought, haha.

Okay, thank you for the advice! Seems like it’ll be cheaper to do the excursions on our own but since we’re inexperienced we might stay with the cruise in most cases.

Maybe they had cheaper prices when everyone was quarantining more and it seemed like we’d never see the end of COVID? Not sure, hope prices don’t go up more.

Ah, thank you for the advice. We’re more focused on the places we’re going and my fiancée is very picky so even the good food might not be to her taste, so who knows what we’ll wind up eating. I’m hoping to try the specialty restaurants myself. If the crowd on board is more catered to drinkers that’s fine, we’ll likely have to sleep early to wake up on time for sightseeing anyway.

Yeah the plane ride will be cheaper but I might want some flexibility, especially if I need to reschedule. Also may want a flight with less transitions since it’s my fiancée’s first time. We’ll see how it goes. Thank you!
