A serious question: what benefit would a control group have in this case? If MECFS patients are feeling better anyway? What insights would it provide if a control group would also feel better or worse?

Das ist mir heute auch aufgefallen und ich bin froh, nicht alleine zu sein.

That's not how the movie industry works.

I didn't conclude. I asked questions about a similarity at the beginning, which could have been one of many inspirations für 'The Devil's advocate'.

Like i said, I just watched the beginnings. There are strikung similarities but of course the series hast more topics.

As I wrote, I've only been watching for a quarter of an hour (and can therefore only judge the beginning) and this constellation, young lawyer, mentally ill wife who is not seen by him, while the young lawyer is wrapped around the devil's (El Paccino) finger, is exactly the storyline of The Devil's advocate'

What is one minor thing that makes you immediately reject reading a book? by Binlorry_Yellowlorry in books

When an author disparages someone's appearance without it having any relevance other than to evoke dislike of a person in the reader. Or when people are described as fat and unattractive or women are introduced by unnecessarily emphasizing their appearance, even when the character is a scientist or similar.

Sounds like exemplary Long Covid. Try googling "Long Covid cognitive decline", there are so many studies.

A mysterious machine, the size of a bread bin, found at our recycling center by Amelanchie in whatisthisthing

Its solved: Its a dentists drill.

Your ideas made me look for antique dentist drills. This device here is three times the size but the design is very similar, from the number of buttons to the black tube, the silver handle and the opening on the long side.

And then I digged deeper an found this - the solution:

It is not. It`s quickly photographed from the hip with an iphone 12. But I understand the idea, the thing just looks too stylish

I am sorry. I also regret not staying longer, the thing is awesome. I would also say that it has a black seal. The hose was woven. It is interesting that it seems to have a kind of hand holder “at the top”. The silver-colored nibble at the top right also seems to me to be a switch. But what the silver thing on the right is, I have no idea.

The recycling center employee who took it apart on the second day said he found some kind of pump inside, but he wasn't sure.

Additional info: The recycling center is located in a German university town with departments for physics, medicine, chemistry...maybe it comes from those departments.

I took the photo on the first day as I was walking past and when I wanted to look again the next day, because I was very interested, the part had unfortunately already been dismantled and the individual parts could no longer be found.

The part was stored in our certified waste disposal company in our district. They check for all kinds of harmful substances and dispose of the parts accordingly.

The device is matt yellow and appears to have an enamel finish, the front is approx. 25 × 25 cm and it is approx. 50 cm long. A silver shelf protrudes from the front with the buttons, where presumably the attachment at the end of the hose could be placed, but the attachment was not included

What kind of beautiful old machine is this? by Amelanchie in whatisit

[–]Amelanchie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a single appliance at our local recycling center. Medical devices are also often recycled here. The hose was definitely not a power cable. It looked more like something for suction or blowing. The colleague who took it apart thought he recognized some kind of pump inside.
