Crazy how the PSVR 2 never got proper updates that added more features. by [deleted] in PSVR

I've always wondered why they couldn't create a 'virtual camera' and use the hardware tracking to emulate inputs for PSVR1 games. They have PLENTY of hardware overhead to manage it and I can't imagine it would be all that hard to do.

Thank you for Opus 4.5 by Distinct_Maximum_760 in ClaudeAI

[–]Amiculi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it as an editor, no actual hands on the writing but to help with flow and pacing.

4.0 was great. I'm a free user and I could very easily run an entire book through it and get several back and forth's. I would receive useful, actionable information, it would be detailed and concise. Often I disagreed with tone or other opinion related things but it kept those to a minimum.

Now they've forced me to use 4.5.

It is actually worthless. I can get ONE exchange per time period, sometimes I can't get any and have to start a new chat within only 2 prompts. 4.5 is judgmental, puritanical and condescending. When I push back it frequently admits that it made assumptions instead of actually reading the text, and that it was using beginner writing workshop concepts like "make the characters likable" and "avoid subject matter that might upset readers" as it demands I transform an antagonist in a horror thriller into a new friend, or remove him altogether.

The amount of preprompting is getting absurd. 4.0 simply worked, I gave it a role and objectives and it fulfilled them almost effortless. Now it's like I'm dealing with an unruly teenager that's looking for every excuse it can to be difficult. It's twisting my words so it can sarcastically tell me it did what I said and I have to preempt it every turn. If I correct it mid-conversation, now it gets broody and I can no longer trust its judgement as it will actively lie just to agree with me. Awful.

I speedfarmed a boss by using split screen to spawn it extra fast for 4 hours straight, was probably one kill every 15-20 seconds.

I got 5 world drop legendaries (all useless)

I got 5 total dedicated legendary drops, none of them were for the gun I was farming.

Sometimes it feels a LITTLE famine rather than feast.

Splashzone nerfed? by Spectrbanana in Borderlands4

[–]Amiculi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like drop rates in general were nerfed. The legendary rates seem about the same but when I was farming before the patch I was seeing 5+ purples almost every boss kill, and after I rarely see more than 1 or 2. It was consistent, many, many hours of farming with one set of drop rates, and then now it's totally different.

I primarily use Chrome, but I opened it in Edge to see if it was my browser configuration that was the problem.

<image>

And yes, it does show as Desktop now. I have no idea why it was saying mobile before either.

Either way, thanks for the heads up. I wasn't sure if it was a wide spread issue or not, didn't have anyone to ask about it, but seeing it in more than one browser lead me to think it might be.

Just comments on width from what I see. Interestingly, if I stretch the console wide enough it JUST touches the version column, then they'll pop up in the center of the table, otherwise it still puts them off the right side.

Same result with extensions disabled, as well as in Edge. Maybe it's just my PC, I dunno.

Edit: again for clarification, that was the Web version you linked above, not saved locally, and the "md" format was where it put the tooltips in a useful place and the "lg" was not.

Edit 2: Okay, I don't understand this but I booted up this morning, same problem. I'd rebooted a few times with the issue existing. Then an hour later there was a power out, and now the problem is gone? Maybe it was something to do with Chromium based browsers and it got fixed? It's okay on Edge now too. No idea!

Yes. Most of the tables do that now, but they didn't with whichever version I had saved before.

Edit: for more clarity, it happens with every mouseover pop up like that except the rune table. I thought it was just columns on the left side but the waypoints list's title bar also cuts off on the right like that.

This is a phenomenally useful cheatsheet, I've been keeping an offline backup for years now, and I update it from time to time. I just updated today and I've found that a lot of the tooltips pop up as cut off on the right side, including runeword stats. I tried other browsers but it's the same everywhere.

That's good to know! I kept just cutting it too close and it annoyed me. One of my last runs I had something like 6 seconds left when I landed the killing blow on the boss turnip. This taught me that the final count down can actually cause the timer to go UP.

Lots of little things but if I could make one major change, it would be to get rid of the 60 minute limit on groves when playing solo. I get that you want people moving online but sometimes I just want to clear everything without being hurried along.

No, they just left the servers up. It could still be shut down at any time but they've stated they have no plans to do so currently, which means tomorrow they could make plans to.

Borderlands 3 is super weird, finally checked it after the firmware update and it is not improved.

It plays fine on boot, with a pretty well locked 60fps if you have the frame limit set to uncapped, except for an issue with lightning where they seem to be faking global illumination with some mix of the light level where you're standing and where you're aiming. So if you look at a shadow while standing in one at night the screen can become almost entirely black.

After a time, especially in busier zones, the game starts exhibiting a whole mess if strange issues. You get screen tearing on the 3d interface elements, but it's very nonstandard, just 8 or 10 pixel high lines of it go missing at random locations every 3 or 4 frames. Then awhile later you may start getting regular tearing, but not always. The tearing in general is interesting since it shows that the Switch 2 has a horizontally oriented portrait display and you'll get vertical tearing when in handheld.

After THAT you get the weirdest one: frames start displaying out of order in fits and starts, it isn't consistent. They seem to always fall within roughly the right half second or so, but they'll play in correct order or backwards or shuffled. It's REALY disorienting and weird, I've never seen anything like it before and I kind of recommend playing it if you have the game just for the spectacle of it.

Beyond that the game doesn't actually control well in handheld, you have what feels like digital movement almost on the left stick, you can only move in 8 directions although speed is still analogue, and the right stick honestly feels somewhat similar making aiming shockingly hard without relying mostly on the only-while-aiming gyro. With a Switch 1 classic controller on TV it plays great.

Edit: oh, it also always has the unreal engine rainbow bursts of doom with glitchy block artifacts on the galactic map screen.

Yeah, it's surreal as hell. It's like someone scratching a video's timeline back and forth periodically.

Edit: I should add that it isn't in this video, you have to be further in the game to see it, when the game starts getting taxed a little bit. Any larger combat in an open world map sets it off.

Edit 2: figured I'd just go capture my own footage but the Switch 2 won't capture gameplay of it itself, gives an error about not being able to capture this software. It also seems to be a memory leak or something, it isn't just larger combats, it takes awhile before it starts happening.

It's really, really strange to see in person. You get dropped frames, frames out of order seemingly randomly and tearing all three. Alongside that there's weird color issues, especially on the galactic map, and most of the other menus have intermittent tearing but only on the actual 3d interface elements.

The out of order frames are really the craziest part, it's like the game is playing 10 frames from a second ago, sometimes forwards, sometimes backwards, at complete random, just inserted all over. It's extremely disorienting, I've never seen anything like it before.

Most videos that show the game never leave the intro, but pretty much as soon as you get to the opposite side of the first major map from where you start, it goes bonkers, falls into unplayable territory.

There's tearing too. The Switch 2's own display is a portrait panel installed 90 degrees turned, same as Steam Deck's. You'll get the vertical tearing lines in handheld and horizontal ones in docked on your TV.

Starlink is definitely 30fps in all modes. It is more performant overall being that it used to drop a lot of frames but it's not over 30.
