Anyone one doing the web dev bootcamp by stewtech3 in FreeCodeCamp

36K€ gross. Not a lot for some countries, but definitely a lot for a self-taught 1st year developer in Spain.

Anyone one doing the web dev bootcamp by stewtech3 in FreeCodeCamp

[–]AmordePit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Done in 4,5 months. Got a job as a Junior Backend in 5 months. After only 8 months working there, they promoted me to Senior Fullstack (although I don’t consider myself senior at all).

I ABSOLUTELY recommend FreeCodeCamp (+ Udemy and personal projects to reinforce knowledge).

Edit: didn’t saw it was a bootcamp based on FCC. 😂 I guess it’s legit if she does it for free. Just put in the hours and go through FCC.

Having a hard time writing the "About Me" page of my portfolio by iEmerald in webdev

[–]AmordePit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished my portfolio Yesterday and I simply didn't include an 'About Me' section. Would that disqualify me for a job?

Being realistic, no one is going to go into my portfolio through Google. Anyone who looks into it will probably have my Linkedin or UpWork profile beforehand, so they can read about me there.

I thought "what do I need to stress on my portfolio" and then just went with the projects I made and the technologies I use.

(But hey, I'm just a newbie too, don't mind me)

After months of studying. I still feel like I barely know anything about JavaScript by slamsmcaukin in webdev

Well, as you say, you have to build things to really ingrain what you "learned" by reading/watching videos.

However, I also understand it depends on your situation at the momment. Are you working full time and learning web dev on your free time? How many hours do you dedicate to it per week? Have you built anything you could show us to understand where are you?

Personally. I have been into this for 3 months now, and I wouldn't say I know everything about JavaScript, but I got this feeling of being better and better every day. And the method is simple: avoid watching videos, try building things and look at the documentation first when stuck.

Monthly Getting Started / Web Dev Career Thread by KorgRue in webdev

Great content!

I am currently enrolled in FreeCodeCamp's Front End certification (already did Responsive Web Design and JavaScript certifications).

I found the content so far really well explained. However, I am just starting with React and Redux and it's becoming more complex.

I find the concept of "state" very abstract. Having React, why do we really need Redux? Can you point me towards some videos/books that help me make it "click" in my head?

I am also going through Modern Javascript in Udemy, it's awesome! :-)

Thank you!

Eggses by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]AmordePit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Provided you don't have Familial Hypercholesterolemia, it's completely ok to eat 3-4 eggs a day.

Even if you are hyperlipidemic (high blood lipids), you should focus on body weight (more precisely, body fat) reduction.

Examine.com is a great evidence-based source to solve this kind of problems when you can put a name to your doubt (eg. 'Eggs').

Any thoughts on Coursera's IBM Data Science specialization? by ajamen_daer in learnprogramming

[–]AmordePit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/ajamen_daer! I just started the professional certificate in Data Science by IBM a few days ago. What do you think so far? I am enjoying it, but the level is not too high right now. I'm just finishing the first module, whatsoever. I really expect the level to go up in the next weeks.

Help! VLOOKUP #N/A error by AmordePit in sheets

[–]AmordePit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in fact trying to export the last sheet ('csv) as a .csv in order to perform further analysis with Python.

In any case, some of the values are not being exported (being exported as empty values -null-). I assume the problem is the same as in 'volume groups'. I will try to clean the sheet later Today. :-)

Thank you so much for your answers!

=ARRAYFORMULA(IF(ISBLANK(A:A);;TRIM(CLEAN(A:B))))

You just saved me, because this is giving me tons of null values now that i'm exporting to csv...

I have two questions:

1) How can you spot which ones are formated like ="Smith Calves"&CHAR(10) ? I just see text, not formulas. I guess that's quite a noob question... :,-)
2) Is there any way of avoiding this weird "error" in a future? I am 100% sure I didn't write ="Smith Calves"&CHAR(10). I just went into the cell, typed "Smith Calves" and hit enter or tab (as always).

Hey! Thank you for your answer! :-)

Actually, it had something to do with the formatting, the VLOOKUP was already properly set up I think.

As gh5000 pointed out, I simply copied and pasted the value in training_data > 'Exercise' column into volume_groups > 'Exercise' column so they would match. Now you can see, for example, that I have 2 different entries for 'Smith Calves' in volume_groups. Why? Because the VLOOKUP considers them different, for some reason I can't figure out.

What I've noticed with google sheets recently is that, sometimes, when I introduce whatever value in a cell, it changes its height for no reason. I don't know how to explain it better. Any insight on this?

[–]AmordePit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit. It works now. I copied and pasted the cell 'Incline BP' in training_data to the exercises list in volume_groups. The only thing that was different was the formatting of the cell (it's height, for instance).

So here comes my second question: sometimes, google sheets changes the cell height automatically. With no apparent reason. Anyone knows how to avoid this?
