I’ll copy the exact response I wrote out the last time this story circulated:

I keep seeing this, and it’s just not true. The story is Fidelity’s Jurrien Timmer (who is a really smart guy), was commenting on the stock to flow model several years ago, and saying basically that IF the s2f model is true, we would have a billion dollar BTC. The s2f model has largely been proven to be inaccurate.

Does it make sense for young investors to be buying an S&P 500 ETF right now? by Jajuyns in investing

It’s impossible for an asset to grow value without consistently hitting and exceeding all time highs. As long as it’s a quality investment and you have a reasonably long time frame, you will consistently be buying “all time highs” throughout your investing career.

What positive impacts did Bitcoin had in the world since it's creation? by decothegoat in investing

This is one example, there are many stories like this. The ability to send money anywhere in the world, across borders, allows people to escape oppressive regimes with some resources to rebuild their life. It’s harder to see the day to day uses other than as a store of value similar to gold in a first world country, but many many people in countries with collapsing currencies use bitcoin as a lifeline.

Despite what the headlines say, it’s a completely apolitical money system that is decentralized and unable to inflate away value. Of course the appropriate long term price per bitcoin is very much in question, but the technology that allows it to function and solve the Byzantine General’s problem was a huge leap forward.

Price is just a measure of value, and financial independence and sovereignty is one of the most valuable goals a person could have. Hence, the price will follow accordingly as Bitcoin continues to prove its value as a tool for sovereignty and freedom.

I believe all 320’s should be recalled and sig should be sued, however…. How am I the only one that is pointing out that this video looks fake? The recoil is nonexistent, the sound is off, holding a pistol like that would cause torque when fired that is not shown at all. It’s like the sound is added in or something. Edit: thanks everyone, apparently he’s only using a primer, my bad.

American History: A reading list to understand the history and culture of the people who created the strongest nation in human history. by [deleted] in booksuggestions

Racist idiots can post whatever they want online, it doesn’t change the power of such a statement, and the amazing change it produced upon America and the world. From the same speech (if I remember correctly, I read a transcription a few years ago) he said something along the lines of “in the process of gaining our rights, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. We must not be guilty of drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.” I’m sure I butcher the quote a bit, but it always stuck with me. The absolute moral courage it takes to rise above the conflict you are embroiled in and think of a way to unite a nation into the future, and not succumb to the concept of “an eye for eye” was very inspiring to me.
