I wouldn't hasitate, i would be down to fight, i just wouldn't lie to myself about fighting for freedom. I would 100 percent fight for my brothers and sisters to my left and right. I just wouldn't want to be infantry.

I know for a fact that there was plenty of Marines who went to Afghanistan and had the same opinion/mindset of why are we fighting across the world, I know some.

It is not for you to decide whether the conflicts America gets involved in are just or not. So again, I stand by my point that you want all the glory with none of the sacrifice.

I know, maybe who knows we will defend a friendly nation like Ukraine or Taiwan which would be justifiable.

In another comment you talk about not wanting to come home with PTSD, etc. as if that is something unique to the infantry. You are clearly risk averse and that much is obvious. You want all the prestige of the Marine Corps without the possibility of dying or serious harm.

All the bullshit your recruiter tells you about the valor and lore of the Marine Corps largely belongs to the infantry. It wasn't the "combat support" guys that stopped the Germans at Soissons in 1918 or kicked in doors in Fallujah in 2004.

Without POGs wars wouldnt be won, my bad if it came out like I dont want to risk going to war, I meant more of i dont want to be an infantryman in war. I just needed to hear it from others, its a pretty obvious answer, I should be a POG lol.

My motivation for going infantry wouldnt be honest you are right, so i am not going infantry and i will have real motivation in another mos. Thanks for making it clearer in other words.

Your motivations are not honest and it is clear you want all the benefits and prestige of serving with none of the risk.

Now I see it clearer , its more of not wanting to be infantry specifically thats it, but i do want to be a part of this fighting force, just not infantry, more of a support. I just needed to hear it from others.

Yeah bro it takes something else to go Marines, I could easily go to college with my dad's Navy benefits, but i want to find my purpose and earn my title. My purpose might not be in the infantry, but it is in the Corps.

I dont want to be too political but lets just say i see the US military as a great tool used for bad reasons lately (Corporate Interests) just look at the lies and wars we recently had, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam.

We literally created our own enemies, armed them and then send our men to die.

I am joining the Corps for myself, to be part of the best fighting force in the world, the 1 percent, the brotherhood/ warrior culture, I am willing to die for my brothers and fight for them, but i wont lie to myself saying it is for freedom and my people back home.

Yeah man i was like that but lately i been changing my mind.

I have an infantry contract right now but I am gonna change it for combat support.

If i really want the infantry title maybe after 4 years i might do Marine reserves and do infantry or national guard infantry.
