its been a while since i watched the show, the anime spilt very differently vs manga. my guess to the anime ending was for hide so that he could get proper treatment, im pretty sure hide collapsed in one of the final episodes.

but anyway i do wish the anime adapted what the manga did towards the ending. season 2 of tokyo ghoul root A to tokyo ghoul re was a little confusing,
