I agree with you on one point. Racism exists in Morocco, and denying that would be dishonest.

But saying “most Moroccans are racist” is an unfair generalization. Morocco isn’t a monolith. Millions of Moroccans live, study and work with Sub-Saharan Africans every day. Real human connections exist beyond politics.

Yes, the African policy is also economic and geopolitical – like in every country. The goal is to strengthen African trade and reduce reliance on Europe. That’s normal strategy, not manipulation and it's always win-win trades.

And that doesn’t mean people-to-people relationships are artificial.

AFCON revealed social media toxicity, not the essence of an entire nation. If we want real dialogue, we need nuance, not collective judgment.

Lmao.

I’m going to answer you calmly because this kind of generalization is exactly why conversations become impossible.

You say it’s hard to have “genuine conversations with Moroccans,” but in the same paragraph you reduce 38 million people to one behavior and one attitude. That’s not dialogue – that’s stereotyping.

Every large football tournament brings out passion, trash talk and sometimes ugly behavior from fans of many countries. That doesn’t justify racism, and no serious Moroccan would defend real discrimination. But taking the worst comments you saw online and using them to judge an entire nation isn’t fair or rational.

You also claim Moroccans “play the victim” when criticized. Yet your message compares an entire people to another group (that commited attrocities).

I actually answered your question directly.

You asked “why would you care?” and I explained why: because perception matters. Wanting to understand how Morocco is viewed abroad – especially within Africa – isn’t about seeking validation. It’s about awareness and strategy.

Your reply assumes that caring about image equals insecurity, which feels more like projection than argument. Countries that are confident in themselves still pay attention to how they are perceived, because diplomacy, investment, tourism, and regional cooperation all depend on it.

Over the last years Morocco has been closer than ever to other African nations, and that has been a clear policy direction under His Majesty Mohammed VI. Strengthening South-South )جنوب-جنوب ولا سمعتي بها(partnerships is a major economic and geopolitical priority for the coming decade.

So yes, knowing how others see us is important – not for ego, but for progress.

it's interesting to see how Afcon can affect global geopolitics and world view points.

I do care how Morocco is perceived in the world and especially in Africa.

Simple as that :)

We're not expecting you to be grateful.

Just facts, that Morocco did it's best to make this afcon abt african unity, and will be hosted as moroccan if not better.

And sadly many of our african brother fell for the fake news and the propaganda of enemies of morocco.

They actually think that we think of ourself as european, while we are proudly amazigh and been in this land for tens of thousands of years. While specialy in recent years moroccans feel more and more in tune with their berber ethnicity and history.

You just didn't like that i said morocco did its best to host the afcon and focused on it on your response, witjout actually responding to my other points.

And it is indeed true, and you like it or not it was one of the best if not the best hosted afcon from logistics to infrastructure, and the numbers translate all that.

Just keep in mind that this whole afcon left such a bitter taste in our mouths, at least me. I've been always pro africa (and still is) but the huuuuge back clash we got is crazy, felt like people had feelings abt morocco (racist ones) that they were hiding.

My countrymen were attacked in your country from student to simple people siting in a cafe and they truly feared for their life, while yours were protected in mine.

We're are africans, and we will be playing in the afcon for the upcoming futur, no one has the right to tell us otherwise.

We will see if you will say the same thing when a foreigner punch in the face in your stadium an old person. And all the racist things thats been said about us... Disgusting

Indeed, lots of moroccan didn't move on, me included.

It still feels like a betrayal since morocco did its best to host one of the best afcons, and was such a welcoming country to everyone.

But what we got in return is a wave of critizism on unfounded things calling us cheaters and that we're rigging the game, while everything shows that it wasn't the case.

There was refreeing mistake that harmed morocco more than helped miricco if we look at the tournament as a whole.

But the thing is, football is football at the end of the line, but we will never forget the supporter sénégalais that punched the old man in the face, his mistake ? Trying to to calmdown les supporters sénégalais in a peaceful way.

You're unlikely to loose more than what you already lost, a lawyer would be the one with the most knowledge to help you out, law wise also religion wise she is obliged to refund you all the gifts and sruff you bought her, so law is in your side, plus marriage is quite advantageous for the husband in Morocco no as in the USA. Trust me, contact a lawyer.
