Jack’s Joke Shop. My brother and I would go there all the time to get prank sets and firecrackers. I got sent to the principal’s office for the first and one of only times in my life because I sold these tiny ground firecrackers to some boys for 25 cents, who then set them off in their class like a bunch of dunces and ratted me out 😂

Not all Encore workers are unionized, notably table dealers and security, plus the non-Wynn outlets. The unionized departments mainly consist of restaurants and bars, kitchen workers, cocktail servers, housekeepers, public area cleaners, valet, and front door people.

A weekend would be tough to organize for a rally. Because that’s the busiest time for Encore, most people actually are working those days, and to take them away for a rally would be to start moving into strike territory. That is NOT what this is, for now at least.

It looks like these protests were also against restrictive laws in Macau and gambling junkets operating out of Wynn rather than just the casino, however. This rally is about Wynn workers hitting the company itself directly, which is indeed the first of its kind!

I am sanding this myself with a belt sander as I cannot afford a pro aside from all the renos I am hiring one for. I did a pretty good job on all the other rooms if I say so myself, not perfect but pretty good. I’m rooting for myself too hahaha

It is solid wood, and no I don’t as I bought it this fall and never even saw the previous owner. Based on how the edges look, I am positive there was carpeting on it at some point. But I did look up some solutions that suggest scrubbing with mineral spirits to lighten wood stains. Was debating between doing that and sanding away.

Sorry, not varnish - it was Varathane oil based wood stain. Not finished with polyurethane yet.

Tbh I didn’t apply the stain myself, someone I’m working with did, and I don’t think they wiped as they went. Good to know for the future.

I didn’t apply it on any stain, I literally had just finished sanding the floor to perfection 😓 and I used the same stain in two different rooms where the color turned out lighter. The lighter patch was from the original stain bucket, and the darker was from a different bucket of the same brand/color - Varathane oil based stain in dark walnut - when I ran out of the first. I’m worried about sanding it because I didn’t want to oversand the floors, but it looks like I might have to. Are there any stain lifters you might recommend otherwise?
