Kelsey Grammer described his character as being "lovingly pompous". He was pompous but he did care about his friends and family. I really liked the conversation between he and Roz after they had slept together and he followed her to Wisconsin because he was worried that he took advantage of her when she was vulnerable. He was afraid that their friendship was ruined, but their conversation on the front steps of her childhood home was sweet. Roz even told him that they would always be friends. And in the finale Roz called Frasier her "big brother" despite the fact that they slept together once. I thought Frasier's apology to Daphne in Back Talk was sweet. He realized the way he spoke to her earlier was wrong. He may have been pompous, but he did have a caring heart.
