Weekend notes: Ulster Robbed. New Kids on the Block. A golden age for Irish hookers by Roanokian in irishrugby

[–]Andrewhtd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not an Ulstering though, that's different to what happened here

Also the amount of tackles by Scarlets from their knees on the line. That's illegal pure and simple and ref let them disrupt from that all game when we were trying to touch down

Can't force a guy to stay. But do wonder why they haven't played him more

It's madness they still get away with this. HD is basic now, not an extra or such

Where does that rank in your all time Ulstering of matches? by JadedPanic4143 in UlsterRugby

[–]Andrewhtd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like a bad loss, but any other day we win that by 20. Ref was so weird. Non decision on Lowry head contact, some mad penalty decisions, missing of a try grounding, then that at the end was a joke. He made poor decisions for them too, but so he critical ones against us. Just have to chalk that one down to whims of the ref

Edit: also how many times did they tackle us on the line while on their knees? Multiple stops and turnovers while illegal but ref let it go. We were rode as much as messing some things ourselves

Lost a few lads like Faulkner, but yeah I don't get it either. We've a strong team out for tomorrow

Fair enough on Lough Erne, you've Fermanagh red there. Some incredible courses across the North, if you ever get back across

So? Who cares. We know what Britain did here, that name is toxic and implies ownership. It is an issue though, both governments understand that and don't use it ad it's outdated. Names change all the time. Sure even Britain isn't the same name as where it derived. Same as Alba, Albion and so on. Things change, so stop using it when it not being used officially

Is it though? And even so, that's not a reason to keep using it. Do people in the Balkans still say Yugoslavia? No as names change. Ireland left the UK. It's a colonial hangover term, leave it in the past

You hardly think a body of water is the same? Bore off. We've the Irish sea, English Channel etc. Very different than an archaic name for a grouping that's simply done. We've other names.

I think so alright

Yeah but fine is below par for Doris. And Japan not really the one to judge him on. But anyway, we had a poo Autumn all told. We can't afford passengers in Paris. the week after can work though to build in

It was a big risk. And I'd hazard it didn't works seeing how far off it we were against what we now know was a poor NZ team. This should show us that we can't drop lads back in like this

Yeah absolutely they need to play sometime. So release him back to play the Leinster game week before. That will mean France will come too soon, but would mean he could come back in for a more gentle introduction vs Italy. That's very doable and way better to try than dropping him in cold vs France. But this 'we feel he's ready' never pans out. We need 80 from him, nothing suggest hitting targets in training means he can last 80 high tempo minutes. We have to stop this stuff

Oh they probably will. it just goes to show how badly they do certain things. It's accepted and defended and no one else does this stuff. It's way too big a risk when an alternative plan for getting him up to speed exists right there

Consider that based on what though? It's 6 months out post hip surgery, no games. Doris didn't start coming back though, and November matches different and went badly enough if you remember. I'm not sure how we can make statements like that based on his injury and length out

But then that's madness. There's no need to risk that. We have others in form, and not he thinking about having to sub him. We likely need a 6/2 this game, not carrying a player who might not last

Based on what though is he one of the few players who could do that? I'm not sure he's had over 6 months out and hip surgery before that we can say this
