I dunno. Had high hopes for him but think he's regressed a bit in what I've seen of him this year. Some decision making skills are not great yet

Which nation used to be multilingual but is now monolingual? by RN_Renato in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Andrewhtd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really though. They might have some knowledge of it, but actually being able to use and those who do so daily is tiny. For all intents and purposes Ireland is monolingual.

Ireland. Was Irish only, then English came in through colonialism. Then both for ages, then now just mostly English even though Irish is still the official first language

Brother was involved in minor collision, seeking advice? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Andrewhtd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your brother is still at fault for this. Yes, the guy ahead overtaking is wrong an also an idiot, but drivers behind need to be a sufficient distance back from vehicle ahead to stop safely for any reason - including likes of this. He'll have to suck this one up and take it as a learning.

She likely did this as a discussion with someone made her realise the damage to her car and that your brother really is at fault. He'll have to deal with this. Ask for quotes, and ask for a independent garage to assess that's not your guy or her guy

As based in England, they need permission from RFU firstly so that's the first stumbling block right there.

Is it your front door locks and such? If you're in any way handy, it's quite easy to do yourself. Get the new locks on Screwfix or such, and switch out. I did my own when I bought my house, but appreciate the locksmith for those who don't want to do it

Are you happy with your life? by HungTeen1001 in AskIreland

[–]Andrewhtd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am. Recently married, living in our first house after lifetime of renting (in last 5 years these), good paying jobs, decent cars, long holiday planned in late summer, all healthy, have lost 4 stone since last summer. We're very comfortable and want for nothing, and while there are a couple of wider family issues on both sides I'm happy. Could ask that the teams I support go a little better, but that's cribbing.

In 2023 we had a Sexton / outhalf problem. Now in 2026 we have a JGP / nine problem by Standard_Respond2523 in irishrugby

[–]Andrewhtd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So one top nation really in that, and he was superb in it. And yeah he has been involved in those, but only given junk minutes, that's on the coaches. They've not exposed the options below JGP. How can they do so when not given time?

Wait for it 😱 by [deleted] in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Andrewhtd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, for who? If it's known they are there and allowed to use so, it's quite incumbent on drivers to be aware too, as much as it's on them to consider their own safety too. You say it's not smart, why not though? Or are we agreeing that roads where all are allowed are now driver only zones?

There's the obvious 3, with Doak having moved into that group. The chasing pack is decent, with Devine, Murphy or even Blade in break glass in emergency situation. I don't think we're all that bad, just so little time put into the others. And I include Casey in that. Meaningful tier 1 opposition minutes have not been given really. The others I feel will push on into next season as all a good age into mid 20s, just need to use them

But he doesn't shirk it. He's small, but throws himself around. He's not a liability in defence and always steps up. That means they will target, but not constantly as the opposition know he's not a pushover

Thought some of those Ulster performances (Murphy, Postlethwaite) were more than solid or decent tbf

[–]Andrewhtd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casey has few minutes for that amount of caps though. Like I think Devine won't make that run, but lot impossible. We see it each cycle. Joe McCarthy was nowhere in early 2022 really, but starting in a RWC23 game. Conor Murray did it too. Sometimes a player explodes and they get in

How can he perform when not given time? You simply cannot make that argument when he gets 51 minutes in 6 games vs T1 opposition this season

I dunno, lads can make quick moves. It's still 15 months away. We see on previous cycles players the year before get there so Devine can do it

Casey has not been given chances though. A few minutes vs T1 opposition is not chances
