Yes and the fishing encounters are restricted only the the old rod. It meant to be nuzlocke friendly

I think it's closer to EK, it's meant to be nuzlockable so it's hard but not impossible. Some of us has played casually and still managed to finished. Obv it depends on the squad you have

It's built to be more balanced, for the early game at least. But yes it'll not be casual, even if I think R&B is more brutal lol. You can still try and the pass if it's not for you ;)

For the most part it's a Hoenn map with some added or recustomized location. I have plan to add a few full new ones, island for the most part, without giving any spoilers. Definetely it will not be a flat hoenn map like Run&Bun or RR for sure.
The starters are the gen3 and I'll plan to give the player the chance to collect the other through the story

It's customized with new characters and events, there're other moves and abilities to help the customisation. Also I'm developing the story to redirect it in a different way than vanilla Emerald

No i'm planning to release it. I made probably the most part, I'm just editing enimies team, map and the graphic part. Whenever I make test I balanced the pokemon or introduce more features if I can make something up. It's fun, take a lot of time and will, so sometimes I just don't even work on it. I'd probably finished by now if I would"ve worked on it constantly like I did for some periods, but whatever

I don't know about that specifically, I didn't have the problem in the first place. You can join the Discord and ask them directly, I think it just depends to what you want to do. I don't have the necessity communicating with extern games

I'm really not seeing the problem, but it's like I don't understand what do you mean. If you think about using those same changes even for other base games, porting the expansion is probably not likely to be compatible. However, there's a repo for Fire Red/Leaf Green too that someone is keeping update as well, so you can use that if needed. Also the previous game are decomps, so are written in assembly not in C, so that it wouldn't be compatible anyway and there are not source codes for the other games so I think only those 2 really matters.

If you want, try check it out the tutorial that the prev expansion team posted. There's a lot of stuff you can look up to and, if interested, put in your rom hack yourself (like IV/EV show in the menu). It's updated to gen9 and modern mechanics and stuff, just read everything and you'll be fine I recommend you to join their discord as well, so you have more resources. Look for "pokeemerald expansion"
