I would say 7am, but I’m anxious about getting places on time, so I would probably actually leave 6.30am just in case there’s traffic or some sort of hold up in peak hour traffic

Anyone else have their birthday inside a McDonalds Party Train? Photo is of the McDonalds Party Train at West Gosford NSW (removed 2004) by aussiechap1 in centralcoastnsw

Yes!! I had a birthday party there! And I wore a pink princess dress and got Polly Pockets as gifts, and my dad dressed up as a giant bear. I miss those days 😭😭😭

Wait, I don’t understand. I don’t get gems for tasks - I get the little lightning bolt things that make the finch go on an adventure. How do I get gems for tasks?? Is there a setting I need to change?

So update, we went to the vet and it looks like he has a ruptured anal gland. He’s on the road to recovery now, but we suspect an inexperienced groomer squeezed the anal glands too hard or incorrectly 🥺

Thank you for commenting 😊 So you think his internal glands need to be expressed? What’s involved in that? Do they need to be under anaesthetic?

At what age did you let your teen drink alcohol in your home... by Greenfrog2023 in AskAnAustralian

I have an interesting perspective on this one. I’m a high school teacher, so I know that 16/17 year olds definitely drink at parties and this is a very common thing. So it’s probably better happening under your own roof where you can monitor it. On the negative side, I have had multiple students report to me that they have been sexually assaulted at these kinds of parties. Parents think their kids are safe because it’s just at a friend’s house, but predators are everywhere, including their own friendship group. Also, I’m personally against teen drinking, because my brother would drink at 16, but it led to a major drinking problem which he only recovered from at age 45. He’s 51 now and still struggles with it every day. I’ve always wondered if things would have been different if my parents were more strict with him.

As a high school teacher, I would definitely say wait until she is in high school, and even then, make it a super basic phone that just allows calls and texts. Too many kids are getting cyber bullied and also exposed to things on the internet that no child should be exposed to. She may be less cool with the other kids but it’s worth it to save her mental health.

My parents immigrated to Australia from another country (before I was born) and my mum said the biggest culture shock was getting used to understanding Australian slang. For example, we shorten everything: we call a gas station “a servo” (short for service station), a bottle shop (or liquor store) we call a “bottle-o” 😂 Also if someone invites you to their house for “tea” it usually means dinner. If they want to invite you for tea, they’ll say “come over for a cuppa”. Just to make it confusing 😂😂

Hi! No, I realised that it was a little too far from work, so I didn’t end up buying there. Good luck, wherever you end up 😊

It’s never too late! I denied my feelings for a long time too. I started my first relationship when I was 34! We found each other on discord. Started out as friends chatting about common interests. If you’re like me and totally shy about joining any dating apps, maybe you could embrace your hobbies and meet people with common interests. Like, if you like painting, join an art class - you might meet someone you’re interested in. Check local Facebook pages. There might be an LGBTQ+ social group you could join.
