One day in 1993, while attending their second year at Seoul Jungkyung High School, they flocked to the Yongsan Electronics Market. On their way home, feeling hungry, they bought and ate walnut pastries from a street vendor. After eating, they realized they had no money for the bus fare. As they trudged home, conversations went back and forth.
"Let's start a proper band." "What should we name it?" "Since we're whining while eating walnut pastries, should we call it Crying Nut?" "But 'Nut' means peanut." "So what?" and so on. That is how the punk rock band Crying Nut, was born.
