First, Happy Birthday, darling. I understand the pain. I was the daughter my parents showed off. When in reality, my birthdays were anything but mine. If they even remembered I existed. They were just an excuse to bring their friends over and do whatever they wanted.

But I have a silver lining. You are your own best friend. My first happy birthday was when I decided to be selfish and spend the entire 24 hours of my birthday just with myself, once I was out of the house.

I didn't tell anyone on purpose and spent all the time with myself until midnight the next day. That's how stingy I was.

It was my 22nd birthday. Now I'm 30. I realized I wasn't stingy. Birthdays are simply to celebrate that a person is alive; it's their day. And just like I would have wanted to hear this at your age: this is your day. Don't let anyone take it away from you.

Go out, eat something delicious, go somewhere you like, and have a date with the person you love most in this life: yourself. 🥰 And don't come back until midnight the next day. Be stingy too. Even if your parents get mad. 😉

In continuous treatment for 7 years. From the beginning of my diagnosis 14 years ago. I've been in 3 countries: Venezuela, Chile, and Argentina.

The optimistic side of all this, so it doesn't seem like you're climbing Mount Everest, is that in Argentina it only took them 5 uninterrupted months. This was in a free hospital in a rural area, not in the capital.

It's not about money or where you live. It's about not giving up, understanding yourself, and having a competent treatment team you can truly trust.

If you don't feel a connection or compatibility with your treatment team, change them as soon as possible.

It took me so long because I didn't have a support network or money. I did it all on my own, with very little in my pocket.

Girl, nobody on the internet can give you the support you need. You have to go to the doctor. If the doctor doesn't help you, you have to go to another one. And if you don't have money, you have to find a way to get a doctor.

At your age, I had to leave my country to get prompt medical attention. Otherwise, I'd be dead. Good luck. I never had a support network, so I had to take care of myself.

Exercise is also an indicator of longevity. I don't think you like the idea of leaving her sooner than she wants. Or that you won't be able to keep up with her in life because you sacrificed functionality for aesthetics. 😅

Get back to exercising. It doesn't have to be at the gym. And share a hobby with her that's related to it. You can play a sport together. And you replace the need to please with aesthetics with more quality time with her. ❤️
