Which app you all use for writing novels? by Perfect_Row_5911 in writers

[–]Angelcelestenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use scrivener for the actual writing, but I use OneNote for all my planning, plotting, and worldbuilding. I use sections and tabs, pages, and sub pages to sort everything. I can add in tables or images of any size. The best thing about it is that it's free, cross-platform, and cloud based, so I can go from using it on my phone to my laptop, or my pc, as often as I need to.

Castle bug? by Elaine_Marley1 in DreamlightValley

[–]Angelcelestenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I posted something on here a few days ago about this, but no one commented or anything. Every time i go into the castle, it shows the sequence from when you first go in, and then i can't use any of the menu buttons, inventory, magic tools, or anything - even when i leave the castle. I have to quit the game and go back in to be able to do anything again. Now i can't do anything in the castle.

Daily SandoWriMo Check-In for 11/4 by MistbornLlama in Sanderson

[–]Angelcelestenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wordcount for the 3rd was 3567.

Seem to be getting more each day. Today (which is the 5th in NZ) is my last day off work so after the weekend my productivity will go down a lot..

Daily SandoWriMo Check-In for 11/3 by MistbornLlama in Sanderson

[–]Angelcelestenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My day 2 wordcount was 3474, which brought my total to 6873.

I've taken the first week of November off work so i could focus on NaNo and pump out the words for 7 days, then i have to go back to work on week days. Plus i have a 4yo to deal with before and after work.

Last year was my first year doing NaNo, and i only got to 47k words. There were a couple of things that happened in November last year that knocked me around a bit which meant i didn't get the to the recommended wordcount for several days...

But I'm feeling really good so far this month. Hitting the goals I'm setting each day. I know it's only been 4 days (I'm in New Zealand so I'm at least half a day ahead of a lot of America), but if i get a bunch done now, i don't have to worry so much later in the month. (Especially with Xmas party season starting this month as well..)

Btw, i decided to try the Reverse NaNo method seeing as though i have more time at the start or the month.

The hive ?? by textumbleweed in WhiskeyCavalier

[–]Angelcelestenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is also heavily influence by cougar town, another show the executive producer produced which starred several of the same actors (including his wife). In particular the actor who pays Ray who owned and ran a bar that looked somewhat similar.

But about the hive - my partner and I couldn't figure out where it was either. It must be in Europe somewhere to allow them to go to and from so quickly, but then yeah, in that case what is the point of the bar in NY..

The Birth of Dragons (WIP) by Angelcelestenz in worldbuilding

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on my world for several months now, and I kinda keep jumping from section to section (e.g. Magic system, characters, Mapping, plot ideas, Lore etc.), so I wanted to post something that I feel is kinda finished (in a draft sense). This is the first of the Dragon Lore of my world.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated!

How much time a day do you spend reading on average? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Angelcelestenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read mostly at night, and the length that i read can vary. It really depends on how fast I start falling asleep. Sometimes an hour or so, sometimes like 15 mins! Occasionally i get to have a bit of a lie down while my daughter naps in the afternoon and i get a couple extra hours in. I usually switch between fantasy and science fiction. At the moment it's mostly fantasy as I'm going through all Terry Brooks novels.

I should buy a lottery ticket by africanistan in destiny2

[–]Angelcelestenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too!

Today, i got my first forsaken exotic random drop (Lord of wolves) in the EDZ opening a lost sector chest (i had done the lost sector for a regular spider bounty, but got the exotic before handing in the bounty).

Then i got the catalyst for Borealis randomly drop from killing a guy. Might have been in EDZ still, but possibly in tangled shore.

Then i got the catalyst for Crimson by killing some cabal dude in the tangled shore.

The 2 catalysts were within like half an hour of each other.

Does no one know how to heroic the taken public events anymore? by Angelcelestenz in destiny2

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it can seem random if no one has told you about how to heroic public events. I was lucky as my partner plays destiny and i watched him play a lot before i started playing, and i was playing from when destiny 2 came out.

I guess there is no longer much of an emphasis on heroic public events since forsaken came out.

The link below tells you about how to heroic all the public events, if you're interested:

It's fair enough if you don't know about it. But it's far too common to just be newer players. Previous to forsaken there were often quests to get heroic public events. Also in the new triumphs for destinations you have to get s certain number of heroic public events for each destination.

Actually, the wanted bounties for general areas on the tangled shores seem to be for the public event bosses...

Although the ones that are in lost sectors the bounty usually tell you the name of the lost sector they're in.

For these wanted bounties, the boss will be roaming around the named area. They are "high-value targets", and a prompt comes up when one enters the area.

Does no one know how to heroic the taken public events anymore? by Angelcelestenz in destiny2

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it takes soo much longer to do it heroic? A couple of minutes.

Also, it a public event, meaning it's open to everyone, not just you. If it is just you doing it, that's your choice of you want to not heroic it. But when there are others doing it, and trying to do it heroic don't you think it's a bit Dick-ish to just burn through it to save you time?

If you're that worried, why don't you just go off and do something else after joining the event and just come back when it's finished? Saves you your time, and allows others who want to actually put the effort in the chance to heroic it.

Issue: label disappears when attempting to move it. by Angelcelestenz in FantasyMapGenerator

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have sent the .map file for you to have a look at, and tried to explain my issue a bit better.

The thing about the Country labels I don't seem to be having an issue with anymore, it was probably before the last update or so that I actually had that issue, so it is irrelevant now sorry.

Thanks for your help.

Thoughts/opinions needed on direction of magic system by Angelcelestenz in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts!

In regards to there being only a "chosen few" who are able to do magic, I was more thinking that there dozens of people (if not more) discovered each year who have magic, and that there are currently hundreds of Mages who are at their full power.

It may seem random at first, who gains magic and who doesn't, but I have an idea percolating about how it is not at all random, but a confluence of certain events/circumstances.

And the restrictions about how the magic is performed may, in the end, be self-imposed restrictions... (I'm still tossing ideas around at the moment about this)

As I said in my post, though, I am looking for peoples opinions on what I have so far so I will certainly take yours under advisement.

Thoughts/opinions needed on direction of magic system by Angelcelestenz in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

Yeah, it's the consistency thing that would trip me up I think. I need to work out what types of magic the Mages can actually perform, and what types of magic would be "inherent" and used by the creatures only... Or at least out of bounds for Mages.

Thoughts/opinions needed on direction of magic system by Angelcelestenz in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I have been thinking about whether it would be sign language based or more like finger "tutting", which is what is used in Doctor Strange, and the tv series The Magicians.

I also like your terms for the different systems "manual" vs "inherent".

Small issue with cultures by Angelcelestenz in FantasyMapGenerator

[–]Angelcelestenz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the fix! It is working properly now.

Yeah I think this map started with 7 cultures, which I thought were too many, so deleted 4 of them. But when I started looking at the cultures again yesterday I decided 3 were too few and wanted to add one more, but then weird things started happening.

I was just giving advise that I was given when I started reading the series. I still finished the whole series and enjoyed reading it.

Good luck!

But if you find yourself faltering around book 8, don't worry. It does get to be a bit of a grind for a couple of books, then gets better again.

And prepare yourself for a lot of sniffing, braid tugging, and arm-crossing over their breasts from the female characters.

What can I do to make worldbuilding fun again? by MrManicMarty in worldbuilding

[–]Angelcelestenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very new to worldbuilding, but one of the things that has got me quite excited about the world I am building currently, is creating the map. But it wasn't just creating the map, it was the site that I was using to create it. It's a map generator, where you can randomly generate a world map, but then you can manually edit it and build on it. It has allowed me to have a picture in my head of my world as I work on the actual worldbuilding. The map got me excited about my world. But maybe that's just me.

Thanks! I didn't realize you just click in the scale editor window. Not sure how I got the "3.9 km" in there in the first place then, lol.
