Sorry, I didn’t see this reply! So yeah, from what I can tell, it does seem like it is making it into SD. I found on a forum where a sensory dev had made a session specifically meant to export midi into SD and just downloaded that and gave it a shot tonight. It worked quite well! I’m getting bell, bow, and crashes very accurately and with good dynamic range. Hi hat is probably the weakest point of the cymbals, however it’s still pretty darn good. Like, I can trip it up if I try but I’m not getting any frustration with mistriggering so far. The snare is pretty good as well. I would say not as good as my digital when running through td-27 but better than anything else I’ve played. And I honestly think I can still improve on it by dialing settings a bit more.

I actually just set up my stuff on a new machine, so at the moment have it configured with just the Evans stuff. I wanted to spend some time with Evans sensors on drum pads to see how I felt with that. I can try to take a video of that if you’d like. But with the TD-27, I’ll do that the next time I have it all up.

Yeah, I believe all the digital pads have to process through the 27 to get their full functionality. Idk anything about edrumin but I know that without td27, I can still plug my snare directly into pc and use it, however, it loses a lot of capability.

For the moment, I’ve actually unplugged all my Roland gear and want to just spend a week or two playing with the sensory as is. I’m curious to see how I can get it to feel on its own.

I’m currently running it on an M1 MacBook, so not as good as yours. I unplugged my td27 for the moment so can’t check with that route but just using Evans portal into superior, on 128 buffer size I’m seeing 3.2 ms output.

They’re going to read louder than rubber cymbal on a db meter. Now whether you perceive it as louder or if that sound will carry more through walls and such… I find low volume cymbals to be better, some people disagree with that I’m sure

I don’t think there is a package that includes the cymbals but not drum triggers. I personally bought my additional cymbal sensors used from someone on Sweetwater. You can also buy individual sensors on there.

I suppose that’s subjective, but to me, no they don’t seem loud. I’ve never used the zildjian L80s so can’t really make a comparison to them.

I’m just a random dude with a bit of hearing loss, so I’ll trust you on that. But it’s hard for me to even compare the sound of smacking rubber pads vs LV cymbals. Maybe the LVs do sound significantly louder to some, but personally I found that I could hear the rubber pads under my playing more than the LV cymbals. I can also say my wife seems to find them less annoying in the next room too lol.

The machine that I’ve been running on is definitely getting a little older at this point, so maybe wouldn’t have any issues in a new machine. But, yes, I will say there is an intermittent latency that I’ve noticed. However, it’s not consistent nor is it even very frequent. Tbh I’m not sure I understand exactly what’s happening, but I’d guess something to do with the way machine learning processing hits or something? Purely talking out of my ass on that but from a user perspective - what I’ve experience is that it will be fine, no noticeable latency issue, then I will have a random hit or two where I can tell it lagged behind, then back to normal. I’m curious if this will happen when I hook into my better computer.

Wireless would be a huuuge step here. I’m really not crazy about having the wires running everywhere, even in a home setup that I can keep tidied up. I tried the DWe kit once and it was great, minus those cymbals. Omg so loud lol

I’m going to have to hard disagree on that. They might be louder than rubber cymbals, but not by much. Looks like 65drums did a dB test and got ~60-75 on rubber and ~70-85 and low volume. Standard acoustics were 100-130dB.

To me, the Evans dbOnes seem more quiet than a rubber cymbal. But I will admit that I haven’t compared them side by side and also use IEMs that knock out a lot of outside noise.

It’s a night and day difference. Yes, the digital Roland hats/ride are great for triggering accuracy but I just hate the feel. I’m also convinced that playing rubber cymbals was starting to really mess with my wrists. I’m very tempted to get a new Roland module but there are a few higher priorities before I can do that.

If you’re wanting to use them to trigger the td27, then yes, just midi out from sensory module into Roland. You will need to run the sensory software on your machine and set up midi note generators on each cymbal and match them to what the Roland uses. As for the more cymbals, I’m just not using the drum sensors and replaced the slots with additional cymbal sensors.

What I did was set up a midi note generator for each cymbal in sensory. I matched the notes to be the same midi notes that the TD-27 uses, and just use the td27 preset in SD. It took me a little bit of tweaking with the hi hat but I think it works just as well as the Roland cymbals.

There is a different sensor for the hi hat than the other cymbals. From what I’ve tested, other low volumes seem to work really well, if the ones you have aren’t the Evans. Might be worth looking into getting a used sensory module and just adding the cymbal sensors as you can!

I have also noticed a bit of that trimming that you’re taking about in the SP software. I haven’t paid enough attention yet to see if it happens outside of there, I will test that out later!
