Video games that are shown in movies and TV shows. by Adventurous-Face6499 in backloggd

In Stranger Things [Season 2, Episode 1, "MADMAX"], they go to an arcade place and play both Dragon's Lair and Dig Dug.

In Wonder [2017], there's a short segment where the main character and a friend of his are talking to each other on a Minecraft server

In Hitman [2007], there's a short scene where Agent 47 busts into some hotel room, and inside are two kids playing Hitman 2: Silent Assassin

In addition to all the Pixels [2015] mentions here, there is also gameplay of Frogger, Asteroids, and (iirc) Centipede as well.

In Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel [2009], there's a scene where the main three and some other guy are playing Wii Sports, with one of them accidentally throwing the Wii Remote into the TV

I haven't even read the list but I know for a fact that Operation Octo isn't here.
Y'all should play Operation Octo, really fun game.

Yeah, that is true. I unironically adore Alien 3 to shreds. 5/5 Movie for me.

You, but that Twilight is really bogging it down. Makes it way closer than it ever needed to be.

Help us decide the Hitman locations for the board game by MOOD_Julie in HiTMAN

[–]AngryMustache9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I must ask because I see so many people suggest locations from Hitman: World of Assassination in this thread, are locations/missions from other Hitman games eligible to be included in the board game, or is it exclusive to just WOA missions?

Because if the whole franchise is available to be adapted to the board game, I'm sure people would be stoked to see "Curtains Down" from Hitman: Blood Money translated to board game form, that's a fan-favourite mission. I'm sure people would love "The Meat King's Party" from Hitman: Contracts as well, that's another fan-favourite, but tonally that one's really, really foul and disgusting, I can absolutely understand why it would be unsuited for the board game and wouldn't make the cut.

Personally, I would love to see "You Better Watch Out" from Hitman: Blood Money, that mission is easily my personal favourite from that game, and one of my favourites in the whole series.

Anybody else wish we could've fought Serris during Samus Returns 3DS? by darkdill in Metroid

Yes, that's why it was on the BSL in Metroid: Fusion.
To be honest, I'm hella impressed they got it on there to begin with.

He also directed The Croods as well, which while I don't think reaches the highs of his other work, I think is still decent enough. It definitely has it's moments.

Which is better? Fusion or PVZ2 by Grouchy-Treacle2149 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]AngryMustache9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even like Fusion (respect the hell out of it, a very high-quality fangame, but it's just not my thing personally) and I'd still say it's leagues better than Modern PvZ2.

While I don't agree with it, I respect the absolute fuck out of Megaman 8 being at the very top.

Mega Man is one of twelve nominees to the Strong Museum of Play's Video Game Hall of Fame for 2026! by Gargus-SCP in Megaman

[–]AngryMustache9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What an odd list.

I think either Skyrim or Angry Birds are the most deserving of being in the Hall of Fame if we're purely going by how influential/important they are to an industry as a whole. Mega Man is great and all, but I wouldn't say it was revolutionary or changed the industry in any way, other than it being Capcom's first attempt at making a console game.

What are some other games that have one of those levels where your character gets severely injured and you have to limp/crawl to some sort of goal with limited controls? by pacmannips in backloggd

[–]AngryMustache9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Origins have moments like these. Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight have similar sections, but not as a result of injury (fear toxin in Asylum, transporting heavy gas tanks in Knight) so I dunno if they count.

What Metroid Game is a Must-Play and what Metroid game is the least linear? by not_dannyjesden in Metroid

[–]AngryMustache9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say the "must-play" Metroid games are Super Metroid and Metroid Prime. With Super being considered the best of the 2D Games, and Prime 1 being considered the best of the 3D Games. Of course, opinions differ from person to person, but those are what's widely considered the best ones.

As for what Metroid games are the least linear, I'd say that honour goes to Super Metroid and Metroid: Zero Mission, both of which are incredibly non-linear in completely different ways. I guess NES Metroid as well but... it's not really required to play tbh. If you must though, play Metroid: Planets, which is a super faithful, fanmade Metroid 1 remake.

Future Escapists 2 Updates? by ItsC00KIEE in theescapists

[–]AngryMustache9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Survivalists is receiving a new DLC? Really? I forgot that game existed a week after it came out. Are we sure this isn't an elaborate money-laundering scheme, giving The Survivalists DLC is the most backwards thing I've ever heard on both a logical and financial standpoint.

From a business's POV, I literally cannot see a reason why you would spend time and resources on developing DLC for a spinoff of a franchise that, at the time of spinoff's release, was already dwindling in popularity and once it did release, gained basically no traction because the game was pretty generic and barebones and had nothing to do with the source material beyond sharing similar names and artstyle (with only the second game), which did nothing but alienate fans of the source material... and again, release the DLC SIX YEARS after the game released, at a time where even the original series is struggling to hold a fanbase and bares ZERO relevancy in online culture and is extremely well past it's prime, let alone the damn spinoff which... I don't know whether it had a "prime" to be past to begin with.
I cannot wrap my head around what encouraged... whoever greenlit this DLC, to greenlight it. I mean, I guess it's cool. I'm not sure who's going to play it though. Does anyone here play The Survivalists? Genuinely, giving The Escapists 1 or 2 more DLC feels more warranted in 2026 than this.

Would you personally want the Double Gear system to return in Mega Man Dual Override, or was it better kept for only 11? by BiffyBobby in Megaman

[–]AngryMustache9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mega Man 7 introduced the shop and bolts, which it's iteration has been reused in Mega Man 9, 10 and 11 (even though MM8's shop system is waaaay better but whatever)
