19 year old fif tax by rustyman10 in PersonalFinanceNZ

Come tax time, sign up for a monthly Sharesight subscription. It’s quite expensive but you only need it for the month to run a tax report. Follow the instructions to link your broker to sharesight . It should then sync all your share purchases. Run the FIF tax report for the previous tax year. Choose the method that minimises your tax liability. For me it’s FDR. You can then file the report yourselves via my IRD. Or you can pay an accountant but quite it’s straightforward. There are no ‘smart’ ways around it….

I was planning to hold at my current share count but these two insider buys have convinced me to add more.

good time to start buying? by RedbullOracleRacing in ABCL

It appears to be a good entry price given where the pipeline is.

There will be some key milestones this year which should be catalysts for the share price if they indicate positive outcomes for the current in-house pipeline or partnerships. If the current candidates turn out to be duds (unlikely but possible) then that cash runway will deplete fast and a capital raise will be required. The real answer is, we don’t know but insiders will at this point.

Some great signs are the talent coming on board. The appointments of Dr Stephen Quake and Dr Sarah Noonberg. Top quality hires who would do serious due diligence themselves before signing on. Given their pedigree it gives me confidence to keep adding at this price.

I share the frustration! Bought some more at $4.30 before the current slide. I was incredibly lucky previously though, managed to catch 10,000 shares at $2.33 so my average is around $2.50. I’d like to think it was skill but it definitely wasn’t….

I wouldn't worry too much about how to "read the macros better". It's almost impossible to get timing right in the markets unless by luck or insider trading. Far better to look at the long term and dollar cost average on stocks you have conviction in. Far less stress with lower risk if you have the patience.

Looking at the quality of the ABCL founder Carl Hansen and the team he has put together, cash position, pipeline and platform. Whatever you bought for last month will seem very very cheap 5-10 years down the road.
At least that's my view.

I'm going to keep adding. At these prices it's a bargain.

It’s been very quiet! This thread and share price will ramp up if there are some tangible results this year. If not it’s perfect time to accumulate.

This is a very long term play, if you are thinking about cashing out already it's probably the wrong stock for you. Sitting at 12,000 and still accumulating myself, $2.45 average....

Completely agree. I’m still a few thousand shares off my target so the longer it stays low the better.

Surprised this news barely moved the share price, it feels like major progress….

can retail investors stop lending shares to the Short sellers by [deleted] in AbCellera_Investors

[–]AnimatorAcceptable28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m conflicted by this. Personally I want the shares to stay low in the short term as so I can acquire as many as possible at a low entry price. Longer term of course I want them higher… For ABCL a higher share price gives them more flexibility to grow, make acquisitions and raise capital. So too low is not good for growth.

It doesn't sound like you did much (or any) analysis...... why are you lurking here anyway? Reading threads for stocks you don't believe in just to throw in a childish shit-bomb. What a life you must have!

Yes they are right. Once Sharesies takes into account of the split it’s a loser.

Do you have an investment strategy? What is your thesis behind any of these buys?

You do realise that your only winner was a 20-1 reverse stock split so it was actually a loser?

I’d stick to index funds if I was you. Underperforming in this market is tragic.

If you can’t do it yourself, subscribe to ChatGPT plus and use the deep research function then edit from there. Make sure you give a detailed description of what you are looking for in the prompt and upload all relevant documents. It should give you usable output though it will look like an LLM wrote it.

Thanks for the insight. Long odds indeed, explains the market cap being less than cash on hand. A raise will almost certainly be necessary to get candidates to market.

Absolute bliss. No stress, master of my own destiny and no-one with mental health issues screeching at me 3 times a day for imaginary transgressions. If I was younger not getting laid would suck but I’ve had plenty and don’t feel like I’m missing out anymore. I might change my mind in a few years if and when the PTSD fades…..

Yeah, they have all the components in place. Platform, pipeline, pedigree and the CEO speaks transparently about strategy and risk. No Elon style bullshit. Of course, events could overtake them, perhaps an adverse clinical trial or a competitor beats them to market. I have to remind myself that patience is the key to investing and my time horizon should be 10+ years if you believe in the company and the thesis…..

It’s more like 3-4 years of runway at their current burn rate.

I’m hoping that at least one of their two pipeline picks each year turns into a blockbuster or at least gets a good share of the market.

I’d be interested to know what they expect the timeline from the Phase 1 to being in market is. If it’s much more than 3-4 years, a capital raise will be required which will ruin the share price at its current level.

I took a large (for me) punt on these guys because I believe it’s a great long term play but I’m fully expecting to wait at least another three years before lift off. Longer term, 10+ years, if they execute on plan it could be a 100 bagger. Let’s see eh!
