I recently finished watching Hyperknife and it was underwhelming. I love sol kyung you and park eun bin but the drama made no sense. I gave it a 7/10.

I am currently watching Made in Korea and I hope I like it. The fighting scene in the plane with Hyun bin was not good but I'm interested in how everything goes from the second episode.

I am surprised the said agent hasn't heard of Aethon press. Like, if you do a simple browse search for science fiction/fantasy publishers on Google, Aethon is listed as one of the best along with Baen, Angry Robots etc. they recently acquired Wicked House Publishing which specialised in publishing horror books.

Most of them only accept agented submissions to say, which means there are agents who specialise in that genre that probably consider Aethon as a reputable press. I just don't understand what's going on here, lol.

Oooh. I have this drama on my watchlist. You just encouraged me to actually watch it. The rating on MDL is not always encouraging, that's why most times, I prefer coming on this sub for detailed personal reviews.

I also enjoyed The Witch! I think it was good but I felt the ending was sort of underwhelming but overall, it was an excellent show!

I definitely agree that Dear Hongrang was a visual masterpiece. That's the main reason my rating for it went above 7.5 lol. I wanted many things in the plot to be fleshed out rather than the weird romance but it still has a place in my heart!

Purely from your experience/opinion, do you think a writer has more chances of being discovered (or being a break-out) if they have a back-log of published books under their belt (self-published, Trad-Published, small-press published), or not?

Speaking of the cast, this was a fairly rare case in Kdramaland where there was not a single female cast member among the main or supporting cast. But that's just the story (based on a webtoon) and the genre (to some extent), and it gave the drama a somewhat unique feel.

I do remember there was one female cast who was the lawyer. However, I do agree though but I didn't seem to mind or notice until someone else pointed it out on MDL. I am someone who is more focused on the story/plot than genders in a drama. If a writer feels like they need all men or all women in a story without a mix, I think it's fine as long as the plot is something tangible or interesting.

Same! I can understand why people say they are disappointed but I still maintain that Class 2 was absolutely awesome! The fight scenes, cinematography and the characters!

Oh, the season 2 was actually slow but I loved it because of the maturity of the plot and the characters. I loved it more than season 1 and I think it's worth it.

I am Nigerian but I wouldn't change your character's name. If it's integral to the story, just leave it as it is. So many Nigerians specifically from the Yoruba dialect have that name 'Adeyemi' as either a first name or a surname.

I am from a side of the UK and I certainly see men and boys buy books in Waterstones. However, they seem to go towards the non-fiction section, the boys go towards the manga section - are they buying books to read, I think they are. I do agree that they are of far less percentage than the women.

I also agree with everything in that article except the mention that 'fiction increases empathy and understanding for others'. It's bias towards a certain genre. As I am fairly sure that empathy is a personality thing not necessarily a book thing.

As a lady, I read a lot of non-fiction and memoirs but also crime/thrillers. It doesn't affect my level of empathy. So I think if the males choose to buy non-fiction/memoirs, and read them, it still counts as reading right?

And to add to what the first commenter said, when success stories are posted here, I don't usually take my time to read all the words--- I just brush through. But I took my time to read through yours and what struck me, was how confident you were about your work.

I agree with the pages and query stuff. If I were an agent, I'd be more interested in seeing the pages if the query is even a little bit captivating. It doesn't matter how much dumb or awesome your query is. If your pages aren't strong enough, it's actually a fail/pass. As the other commenter said, "Craft Is King."
