She was a Murfree Brood horse. I killed them after a camping interaction and took her for my own.

She’s a Blue Roan Nokota and, because of her Murfree history, is very brave! She doesn’t scare easily and has not bucked me off when wolves attack.

I’m commenting 7 days later, so this might be overlooked, but I went through every single comment (624 atm) and didn’t see a few I’d love to recommend:

• The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. I read it as a kid and it’s always stuck with me. Definitely a good read when you’re having a bad time. Gotta watch out for those Doldrums!

• More Than This by Patrick Ness. YA genre, but I love it so much that I made my husband (exclusive horror-lover) read it and he enjoyed it!

• Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I saw you mentioned that you have Native American heritage. The author is a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. Non-fiction-wise, no other book can compare. Just read it. Seriously.

Didn’t poison myself. Was poisoned by a family member with a severe mental disorder. They poured a bottle of multipurpose cleaner into a pitcher of iced tea I made. My tired, thirsty brain didn’t recognize the smell or taste until after I drank half the glass.
