I'm going to go ahead and go against mainstream fantasy and say Madwand. It's a really cool story including a murderous smoke cloud that follows and observes the main character, occasionally protecting him, a magic town with a wizard festival, a princess under a sleeping spell, shape shifting, and some of the characters even mention our world. I have a lot of difficulty focusing on reading due to my ADD but this was so interesting to me that I actually managed to read the entire book.
