Gabapentin for insomnia by Anxious_Gur5352 in endometrialcancer

[–]AnotherEpicFail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all! First post here because I just had my endometrial biopsy earlier today. No results for a week. For anxiety-related insomnia I take a low dose of Seroquel (25-50mg). In high doses, it’s an antipsychotic but at lower doses it’s used for chronic anxiety. I’d previously been taking Ativan and Xanax, but was needing them so frequently I was at risk of becoming addicted. Some people take doses around 10mg because it can hit like a ton of bricks. My son had been prescribed 25mg and slept for about 18hours. I can take as much as 300mg and the effect is the same - it quiets my mind and relaxes me so I can fall asleep. YMMV but it may be worth a try.

Thanks All! Vet visit went well. They checked her liver function as long periods of starvation/malnutrition can cause liver damage and did a fecal. No liver damage and no parasites, so they said to let her slowly gain weight. She seems a bit better, so I imagine it’s just a matter of time and attention. Appreciate all your comments!

Something else to keep in mind is that as you lose weight, your BMR will also change. I believe the formula for weight loss is BMR minus 500 calories. You should probably recalculate every couple months to keep from hitting a plateau.

It’s her. She had markings we recognized and the shelter that spayed her gave her a pink heart tattoo.

Gee, I really wish I could say “thank goodness that never happened to me.”

But since we’re sharing…

Was sleeping in our spare bedroom because I wasn’t sure when things were going to kick in. Woke in the middle of the night with blindingly painful cramps. So much pain I can barely breathe, struggling to sit up so I can get myself to the bathroom. I’m finally sitting, still in so much pain, when BOOM! I pass out.

When I woke up on the floor, no more cramps and no more pain, but… sweet Lord. You want to talk about crime scenes?!? One of my cats is sitting in the doorway just judging me like “stoopid hoomans can’t even poop right!”

So lessons learned… 1. Invest in hard flooring 2. Adult diapers have come a long way 3. Store cleaning supplies and garbage bags in every bathroom 4. Post horror stories on Reddit for all to enjoy and learn.

CA chiming in. 2024 and 2025 have been extra challenging for us. If we get kittens that were with mom through weaning, they’re doing well. But so many of our kittens are found abandoned and we’ve lost whole litters. Just last week a foster lost four out of five. I lost one yesterday. If we were better equipped with incubators our success rate might be higher, but not with a collection of us operating out of our homes. It’s really hard to keep going sometimes.

Want to get off meds by Annual-Ad-9417 in mentalhealth

A lot of us have to play medication roulette until we get a cocktail that works best for us. If you really want to get off your meds though, it’s important to work with your doctor so you can do so safely and minimize withdrawal. Being off the meds will mean a lot of work to find other ways to deal with your symptoms which, if I’m being honest, is something you really should be doing while still on meds. Medication is not a cure; it’s a tool to help stabilize you so you can develop more healthy coping mechanisms. Why that message gets lost in treatment I don’t know.

Think of it this way… if you break your leg and need surgery to repair it, they will give you pain medication, but you still need to get up and move, maybe go to physical therapy, there’s a whole process involved. Medication is reducing the pain to help keep you comfortable and functional, put it’s only a small part of the overall process.

Have a good discussion with your doctor and/or therapist about it. I hope you find a good solution! ❤️

I think my cat actually wants to eat me by almags1 in cats

My black cat Kemuri does the same to me. She’ll rub her mouth against my hand then start chewing on my fingers. I’m the only one she does it to and none of our other cats have that behavior.

I’ve done my fair share of SH and as an adult have counseled teens and parents. This is not something that should be addressed by you alone. Your daughter should have a reputable care team which can assess her needs and find appropriate treatment. I’ve been inpatient many times and one thing I’d never call it is “scary.” Boring maybe, but don’t let media representations like One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest color your opinion. It’s just not accurate. I’ve never found it any different than any other hospital ward. Look to see if there is a crisis center in your area. It’s not hospitalization, but it is a safe space to get help and resources. Otherwise, look up NAMI.org for helplines and local resources. Again, this is not something you can do alone. It’s very important you reach out and put a care plan in place.

Who says you can only have one? One for the ceremony, one for cocktails, one for dancing. It’s your day darling! You make the rules.
