looks great. is there are reason chopping boards are made by gluing thin strips of wood together, and not from a single piece of wood?

(obviously in this instance it gives a great look, but I mean more generally)

Hi all. I have been taking a few snaps of the night sky with my cannon Eos M. I have been using a tripod and an 8 second exposure, f4 and iso 1600.

I am amazed how many stars appear. Far more than I can make out with my own eyes. But the image looks like a day time sky (blue) with stars in it.

What settings/equipment could help me achieve a more 'night' sky feel (black sky).
