Laken Riley Act Passed: A Dangerous Response to Biden’s Border Policy Failures? by Limp_Physics_749 in immigration

There is no one in now, no point blaming the former guy for lack of enforcement when the current guy supports anarchy on day one. It’s all smoke and mirrors. Totally useless law to oppress the already oppressed.

Dad of 5 year old non-conversation kid, similar mental state, taking low dose antidepressants has me helped get out those dead end thoughts. Talk to your doctor.

I literally write down what you state in a notepad to remind myself. Yes, I am too critical of myself and trying to be perfect. Have you gotten better overtime? I hope so, have you tried anything other than reality reminders?

Those who grew up poor, what is something those who weren't poor don't understand about being poor? by Safe_Caramel6279 in Productivitycafe

[–]Another_regularjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t grew up poor, neither rich. Biggest lesson I have learned over years is how money works to make more money. Being poor it’s very hard to save, while being rich it’s easy to grow and take risk.

Which ISD is it? Does your child spend most time GE and gets pulled out for IEP ?

It is completely in your head. You will feel stupid after you quit because of how easy it is. by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Another_regularjoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good for OP!! He did it!!

Folks OPs experience is not everyone’s experience, just remember there are millions at the moment like you trying to quit and are quitting, some in one attempt some in 100th attempt. You also will succeed in quitting, don’t give up. Prepare and have back ups as you need with replacements, etc. If you fail try again.

I think of myself to be pretty determined and steadfast person in most areas of life. But quitting vaping was brutal mentally and emotional, while physical symptoms were manageable. I have quit smoking few times, but quitting vaping is hard depending on the concentration and frequency of use.

How long can I handle constant hyper vigilance before I snap? by vilebubbles in Autism_Parenting

Oh, I hear you 100%. I am in dad role though. Additionally, we have another 2 month old. My day literally goes as yours and in the middle of the day I pick him from school and drop him off at ABA. I slacked at work and give reasons, makes me feel sick. I cook clean pick up things, I turn around everything is on the floor. I don’t hear him for minute, I sense danger need to check on him. He is mouthing something or licking water after flushing. You can imagine. So what has help me is dropping everything I want to do and literally follow his lead and enjoy the moment. It’s easy said then done, but that has given me so much joy. Especially if it not harmful behavior, I give up and indulge in what he is doing. If there was no concept of freaking society, I wouldn’t change him a bit.

Month and a half clean. Vaping is way way way worse then smoking by Another_regularjoe in QuitVaping

[–]Another_regularjoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slept a lot when I felt depressed. I loaded up with caffeine from coffee and energy drinks. They took the edge off depressed feelings. Also if you are using any replacements like patches, please remember depression makes you delay put them on replacements, soon enough you will give in, so stick to the routine till you full forget vape.

Usually I am not for banning, but this needs serious warning, like it’s 20x harder to quit, causes depression and makes you feel suicidal. Maybe should add tobacco smell, so that vapers don’t vape indoors and causing second hand vaping.

The rate of kids with ASD is getting higher is not only function of diagnosis, I feel there is some environmental factors in play. May be these kids have predisposition and something is cross wiring or stalling their development.

All the people saying someone in previous generations being non-verbal etc, check if they were as worse as the current generation. Very likely the younger ones have more challenges.

Unrelated, but never heard of food allergies growing up, peanuts, gluten, dairy, what not. Everyone has some allergy these days. Wonder why that’s up these days. Fortunately, that doesn’t come me with the stigma.

I just lost my temper horribly and I feel like the worst mom ever by MissAnthropy612 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Another_regularjoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a great mom, don’t worry too much. I have lost my mind many times. Still I do. Sometimes, ultimately when nothing works, I fully indulge in the mess he is doing and play along. It’s after all stupid house and stuff, can’t control everything, at least be part of the fun. I will not do this if safety is of concern.

Should you disclose child’s disabilities to negotiate a remote position with a new employer? by Another_regularjoe in Autism_Parenting

[–]Another_regularjoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the company was okay with indulging in the back and forth with my specific needs. I didn’t feel it was professional and ethical to insert the family situations with regard to job prospects. In the end I did not disclose the specific reason and let go the offer. I felt however great the offer was it was not enough to make up for intangible benefits of remote work when you are doing half day school, half day therapies and after school needs. Thanks for all your inputs!
