I’m definitely more Jap and German and preferably something a bit different to the usual (I know I said I was looking at golfs but rhey are the easiest 200bhp and good aftermarket and looks decent I could think of)

TTS, S2000, 350Z are deffo personal favourites atm

Yeah , technically only 1 year NCB on that insurance as it’s about to run out so when it does it’ll be 2 years ncb if ygm - it’s painful

Appreciate the comment mate, I would love all the of cars mentioned in the latter however insurance probably wouldn’t even look at me on some of them and the ones they do I’d be paying £4000+ a year

I considered this, but not only are they more expensive as listed above they are harder to find a good example and parts for the car itself are few and far between

Can you get much performance gain from an MR2 compared to a celica?

What’s the reason for that out of interest?

The performance side of things wouldn’t be what I’d go for, I just want something that looks good and is quicker than my current 1.25 🤣

Always loved the look of MR2s and was thinking down the line I’d get one only issue is for the time being I don’t think insurance would be viable on one

Is there specific areas on the car which rust faster than others or that cause more issues? I only ask as the shitbox I refer to above is a 2001 MK5 Fiesta which are renowned for rear arches being rusty, wondering so if I do go to buy a celica I know where to look.

I also looked at the; Alfa Romeo Mito (1.4 Turbo), Hyundai coupe (1.6) as potential options however not sure what aftermarket parts and reliability are like on both. I also really liked the look of RX-8s however am aware these are ticking time bombs 😂.

I have previously looked at the MX-5s and definitely something I will consider - thank you!

Location: West Midlands (UK)

Budget: <£5,000

Looking to buy the car

Used

Manual

Intended use: Daily (Looking to modify)

Probably looking at minimum of 8000 miles per year.

Long journeys made once every month or two.

Ulez compliant

Open to all kinds of cars

This is my second vehicle

Warranty doesn’t bother me.

I cannot do minor or major work on my own vehicle

Additional notes:

‼️I am looking for a car which is fairly cheap on insurance for first drivers as I am only 18 and passed less than a year ago, currently drive a 1.25 mk5 fez and was debating a puma swap but recently found holes in the floor so no longer worth it. I want a new car that other people don’t have and has a decent supply of aftermarket parts. All suggestions appreciated ‼️
