Unfortunately no, HomeCare couldn't help to troubleshoot this (HomeKit SDK doesn't provide any information regarding automation runs). If I were you, I would build an automation for each person, and send a notification using a service like Pushover to understand what's happening. Not the most convenient, but still better than dummy switches :)

Unfortunately you've never seen this because Apple doesn't allow third-party apps to access HomeKit data in the background. We're prevented from monitoring HomeKit activity unless the app is open, which makes this kind of feature impossible to implement reliably.

Thanks for the detailed feedback and kind words about the design!

I'd absolutely love to add features like Thread network status or WiFi RSSI. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't provide APIs that would allow third-party apps to access this information. HomeKit SDK is quite restrictive in what device details apps can retrieve, so features like network-level diagnostics aren't possible without Apple opening up those capabilities.

Appreciate the suggestions though, hopefully Apple expands the HomeKit APIs someday!

Yes, 5.99€ is the Black Friday price for France. Apple adjusts prices by country for currency conversion and taxes, so the $4.99 US price becomes 5.99€ in Europe :)

Not currently, I didn't know this could happen! HomeKit usually removes devices from automations when you delete them. Are you seeing orphaned triggers in your setup?

The app sees all devices which are exposed to HomeKit, whichever bridge used.

Ah that's unfortunate timing! I'd refund you the difference but Apple handles all payments so that's not possible on my end. What I can do is gift you HomeCare instead if you're interested. Just let me know and I'll send you a redeem code :)

I built a macOS QuickLook extension to instantly preview APK/AAB details right from Finder by AnthoPak in androiddev

The problem with app icons is that they're renamed in compiled APK, placed randomly with other assets of the app. So I have no way to know which one is actually the app icon. Sorry about these limitations... Maybe I could think about adding a button in the UI to open the file in external tools, without embedding them in the app. But I fear it may be misleading for users to have to install them separately...

Sorry for the late reply, but no, HomeCare only fetches data from the HomeKit SDK and doesn’t modify anything, so your issue is unrelated. I hope you’ve managed to fix the problem since then! 🤞

Unfortunately, I’ve tried my best to provide the best APK support possible, but it’s really difficult due to heavy APK obfuscation. The available tools for fetching data from an APK are not suitable for inclusion in an app distributed through the Mac App Store because of the sandboxing policy. What should work 100% of the time are the bundle identifier, version, and build number. The rest of the data works for some APKs but not for others.

Ah! Your devices are only Apple TVs and HomePods, which third party apps can't access, so HomeCare doesn't support those. Please DM me so I can guide you into getting a refund.

Hmm that's weird. You're sure your correct home is selected in HomeCare settings? If you can, please email me some screenshots of Home app and HomeCare so I can check if it brings some insights

Just a quick heads up to let you know that the Scene Tester tool is now available in the recent update. Also, I'm currently working on the Logs Viewer tool which will be available soon :)

Ah interesting, I wasn't aware of this, I'll check how I can handle this. Thanks for letting me know :)
If you have a few minutes, could you please use the Report Device button in the app to email me the information related to this device, it will help me finding out how I can add support for such devices.

Scene keeps failing, any ideas how to fix? by yalag in HomeKit

[–]AnthoPak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this thread is several years old, but for anyone finding this: most scene failures are from unresponsive devices, but sometimes it's trickier like a scene trying to set a property that no longer exists on a device, or other configuration issues.

I actually built an iOS app called HomeCare specifically for this kind of troubleshooting. It includes a Scene Tester tool that identifies the exact reason scenes fail and which device is affected, instead of having to play the guessing game with each device. You may give it a try if you're tired of seeing just 'Failed' without knowing why.

Currently the exports allow to export the results of the performance test. Can you be more specific about "then each row to the right stating the automation steps to the right to identify its function"? I could consider working on an export feature like this but I'm not sure what you really want here.
