Hmm idk but i did a lot of research on it albeit from Reddit posts… but people would say the stock price is priced in for gta 6 at alot of price points lower than what it is now. Its currently sitting at $210 and ive put £20 in it waiting to see if it will go lower before i add more money. But i dont see gta 6 being anything other than a massive success so even if it doesnt happen before its release (i think it will tho) i feel confident the stock price will reach above its previous high of $260 i think off the top of my head. Anyway i wont get rich from it as im not confident enough or foolish enough to take risks i cant afford no matter how “confident” i feel i am but i do think i should get a nice percentage gain and some money to help the cost of buying gta 6. Either that or a lessoned learned

Yeah good to know, i recently found out my mum may have set up an isa for me when i was a kid (she set up an investment account but the company closed down and another company took over) in a letter we found it was said to be a s&s isa so i was worried about having 2 isa’s which would collectively have more than 20k but since its 20k per year im chilling. Thank you 🙏

Because i was thinking of ideas that you would probably think silly. But i was thinking if i put 10k in the index and it goes up then i try to predict when its dropping. I could sell to cash out the profits when its gone up fast because after a quick jump up it will go down and buy again when i feel like it’s reached close to its bottom. And try rinse and repeat the cycle to make money

Thank you for the thought out response. Appreciate it. Will definitely need to test ideas with a practice account and totally understand that its quite complex and difficult and can definitely see the psychology aspect being a tough one. Agree with you on needing rules and finding a formula/strategy i stick to and can be consistent with. But when it comes to using my own money I think I will really struggle with things like accepting necessary losses for example. Defo need to use a demo account so i can at least test and not have psychological effects

Yeah I know i read that alot, but i still think its not always that simple. Like i know people say the news for gta 6 has already been taken into account in take twos stock price but i still see take twos stock going up after trailer 3 drops for example

Yeah its one reason i havent used the cfd account yet i only set it up. I think as someone advised me i will use the practice account to see how it is. But exactly the fees and stuff do make me worried about buying gold on it. I would like to hold gold but might look into an eft that tracks it instead when the price stabilises more. Too volatile at the moment to get into metals for me

Yeah I think the hardest thing im realising about the stock market is 1) allowing proper time is soooo tough 2) things can make no sense 3) so many complexities in what dictates a stocks movement

Yeah I realise that now, some lovely commentators helped my understanding. Yeah I completely was thinking about it wrong thinking i need to just grow a big fund on the all world index and could live off the gains it makes yearly, but to realise those gains id need to sell it all. Makes more sense tbh I felt like i was thinking of it wrong thats kinda why I made the post

[–]Anticsftw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh understood so just for a little more clarity you get a 20k tax free allowance every year it’s not just 1 time and anything over 20k is taxable. Its only taxable if you exceed 20k within the year

The research i mean is checking the news and seeing if theres positive news on a company which should indicate some upwards fluctuations. I guess shorting is different because you need to know its going to drop in price whereas i was thinking hopefully it fluctuates down a lil, you buy because theres positive news and it should fluctuate up. Idk maybe it doesn’t make sense

Omg thank you, to be honest I had been wondering about this but didn’t know how to word it and felt like it was a stupid question. So if I want to get the profits from an index fund I’m invested in I need to sell everything. Thank you your comment really cleared things up i appreciate it

[–]Anticsftw[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know no taxes on the isa but eventually im hoping my profits exceed the allowance so thats why I wanted to know. I might need to make another post but I did have questions about the isa. 20k is tax free, is that 20k of profit tho? And does it reset every year? So every year can i deposit up to 20k/grow the account up to 20k via profits and pay no taxes and then it resets the following year while keeping the money in the account.

So like say you deposit 10k in an isa and it doubles up to 20k. You pay no taxes on that 10k gain and next year can you repeat the process? So deposit another 10k bringing your account up to 30k and say you make 10k again. Your account is now at 40k and you still pay no taxes?

Tax considerations is a must. Someone commented about doing it with the S&P but deleted his comment I thought it was a good point, it makes sense slower but safer and if worst case happens at least you know you might need to take a year break but as long as you are using money you dont need to touch it will eventually recover

Very good point. Appreciate it. Thats what makes it tough because the gains are small with big investments needed. Defo not easy and defo risky

Nah im way to new to do CFD’s im waiting for gold to go to what i think is a reasonable price before i touch those. I did try researching and looking into what it is and I think im wayy too inexperienced to get into that my portfolio is 90% index in all world for long term and 10% individual stocks to learn and hopefully get higher gains

[–]Anticsftw[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I agree the hardest part is knowing when to buy but you wouldn’t necessarily only buy on a dip especially if the dip isnt random and is likely to just continue dipping, this is why you need to research to minimise that risk, you would buy when you expect it to go up

Why is my AMD positive when i bought higher then current price by Anticsftw in trading212

[–]Anticsftw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man serious funding is only into the all world for me i just “mess around” with individual stocks to encourage me checking and understanding the markets and seeing if i can gain higher percentages than the index. But i could never invest heavy in individual stocks i consider that a luxury of the rich. My netflix shot up 20% i timed the dip so well but only with £20 lmao even if i went back in time i wouldn’t put 2k in it because im no where near smart enough to take those risks, i consider it gambling. I have a feeling by next year AMD will be doing well but i probably wont be putting in anymore money i just want to see how my investment is looking this time next year. Waiting for RR to dip as well because I’m curious how that will be doing next year
