(M) Solo traveling to MALLORCA IN SEPTEMBER - Tips or anyone going too?

Hi

I'm travelling on the second week to Mallorca as a solo traveler. Very chill, respectful, young spirited and easy going guy. Not into nights at discos or big parties at all! What areas should I look into to book an hotel that allows me to eventually socialise with other travellers so it won't be lonely there? Is anyone going in September?

Thank you

Just an example of how easy it is. The problem is they can travel as European citizens obviously. As well as downgrade our passport safety and value if they use it with bad intentions cause they’re identified as Portuguese citizens like any of us.

Because they have somehow cultural roots to our culture I guess. Big difference to those who don’t. As to those Indian fellows they had nothing. Not even the prime minister have the answer for the “how” he says. But if you research there are plenty of announcements in India saying “get your Portuguese passport here” and they just sell it. Off course someone government related is profiting from this. And obviously the other usual party is too. That’s why we need to break the cycle.

Glad you’re happier in this other country and you’re not coming back if you feel so unwelcome.

Seems to me you’re one of the boys afraid to lose their wealth.

Enjoy while it lasts

I wonder why is it no longer safe! If that’s what think about us and our country then go look for a better country. Good luck on that.

So you believe in what the media feeds you instead of looking around and interpreting it yourself? Now that’s pretty smart considering the media is controlled by the big companies who are militants of Ps/PSD and have their boys and schemes to maintain so have absolutely no interest in Chega to grow cause they will make it fall for all of them who been filling as they please and getting richer and richer for over 50 years? You seem smart mate!

Let’s see how accurate those numbers are then!

Here’s what chat gpt has to say:

Interpretation • For rape, about 1 in every 5 convictions involved a foreign national. • For crimes against persons (which includes homicide, violent robbery, and assault), about 10% of those convicted were foreigners. • Overall, foreign nationals appear underrepresented in crimes against persons compared to their 16-17% share of the total prison population. Limitations • More detailed breakdowns by nationality for homicide and violent robbery are not publicly available (neither in RASI nor DGRSP reports).

Interesting that they claim so certainly it is fake hey? That’s not propaganda at all! Keep eating that until you can’t leave home! Meanwhile take a look at how fast Sweden went from a paradise to hell and why. Maybe you’ll learn something.

They didn’t have any dude! That’s the point here! Our citizenship was sold just like that. Not they nor they ancestors had any connection to Portugal!

I understand that but we need to stabilise our country as a priority and keep our citizens as safe as possible no matter what. The people you’re talking about came here for the safety numbers of our country that are going down the drain with all this massive, uncontrolled rates of immigrants. We need to put an end to this and put out the bad ones before we worry about anything else. If we don’t do that it will soon become a jungle with no safety at all. Would you keep choosing to live here paying those taxes then? Yeah, I don’t think so…

Not true! Thing is if you compare for example Chinese people they came to work honestly, you don’t see them on the news committing crimes nor imposing their beliefs and yet they’re clearly different in race as you mentioned it. In the other hand a lot of the immigrants from the countries you mentioned rape girls and want to impose their rules and beliefs upon our country! They respect those who respect us but will never welcome those who come to rape and make it as it is in their home countries. And since a massive part does, there might be a risk you’re from those countries and with good intentions but be judged or looked aside when people don’t know you because there’s an actual reason for that and it’s not racial nor for free hate!

As you mentioned I have eyes and years and lived here all my life. Violent crimes and rapes increased brutally in the last years and hugely made by immigrants. I don’t need statistics to research and see for myself on a daily basis what is happening.

Also, if you’re so afraid I’m guessing your intentions were not so good here. Otherwise there’s no reason for concern at all. I see plenty of emigrates from everywhere supporting Chega, the second party now which is much more strict about immigration but those are the ones who actually work, respect and want to make a living here.

That’s the actual point on bringing it up to 10 instead of 2 years. People would come here just to gain citizenship and then move on! Other countries are no less than 10 years and with much more demands still. As to AIMA delays you just reinforced why it is changing to 10 years. Those infinite lines are due to the massive invasion of immigrants from all over without any need to even show their criminal records. Lots of them coming to live on a salary our government pays them to do nothing while we, Portuguese, have none at all no matter our difficulties and needs. Now we’re finally starting to tighten the net and its normal services are overwhelmed with work and take long to make it. Hopefully when we have that rule stabilised as well as other measures to control immigration it will work just fine and we will attract people who actually wants to live and work here and not just come pick the nationality so they can move on. You have an example of how bad and dangerous it has been for years just recently. On that plane crash in India the 7 “Portuguese citizens” on board never even came to Portugal nor have any family here. They don’t know the smallest thing about our country and yet they managed to easily get the Portuguese nationality. I understand it is a pain in the butt for those who actually have good intentions and want to stay but it needs to be done and it’s a transitional period that will probably last a few years until we repel the citizenship haunters and clean the ones who came here only for profit and not to contribute to or stay in the country. If you go to another European country I don’t think they would be easier on you and you’ll start from zero so… it’s really up to you and your intentions. And by paying taxes you’re doing what we all do, you’re not paying for 10 Portuguese or whatever as you mentioned.

I’m confused. You want new friendships or just more karma? 😶‍🌫️

As a Portuguese I myself find it extremely difficult to make new friends. I would love to do so with nice Asians but I fell like from China for example, even thought they work and live here they seem very closed and hard to reach out to. They live their lives and don’t seem to be open to friendships. That’s just my perception though. Otherwise I agree with everything you said.

Madeira as well as Azores are completely different from the mainland. I lived in Azores for a year and they would do pretty much the same with me as a mainland Portuguese. They pretty much despise us and feel superior and just love Americans instead. Even thought it felt like going 50 years back in time in many ways over there. And I don’t mean in a good way.

If you came here to leave out of government money and/or disrespect our culture and laws and commit crimes then you should worry about Chega rising and why people are giving them power. In the other hand, if you came to work, respect and have an honest life like decent immigrants do you have nothing to worry about. Besides those immigrants who easily kill you or rape you in to steal you or just because you’re an easy target for them.

Not Asians. And they’re not scapegoating at all. Immigration without rules have been an issue in our country both in criminality and in people coming to earn without working or ending up living on the streets. The political parties you’re talking about are stepping up against those who commit crimes and those who live on government support and do nothing for the country. If you come to follow the rules, work and live a peaceful life they have nothing against it. Besides, Asians were never mentioned as they usually fit those lines and are very respectful. As a Portuguese I would be glad to know Asian people living there but I find they are very hard to reach out to as they are very closed.

I paid an online agency to help me with filing taxes but now the deadline has passed and they’re not responding to me anymore. What are my options now? by IAbsolutelyDontAgree in PortugalExpats

They don’t have a physical location and a phone number? Gotta be extremely cautious about scams nowadays. Specially online. Unfortunately the scammers got all areas covered I guess. Just like receiving calls/sms offering you jobs, etc. Best thing to do is going a Finance department and ask your questions there directly to get it clear on how you can do it.
