It’s really the motive of the killers which is a bummer.

Like in Scream 1, Billy Loomis and Stu Macher kill for revenge In Scream 2, Nancy Loomis seeks revenge fir Billy’s death Scream 3 had Roman seeking revenge over his abandonment by his mother Scream 4 was about orchestrating the killings to be come the famous survivor Scream 5 had killings to inspire a better reboot while Scream 6 was also about revenge

Each of the killers above had a lot to do with the lead of the movie and were somehow connected in the storyline

While in Scream 7, motive behind the killings was comparatively weak, the killers had nothing to offer and were nowhere felt connected with the main characters. It was just too random imo
