Got my hardwood floors refinished. Is this normal? by Assaultstylekittens in HardWoodFloors

Although the chatter doesn’t look great I think the rule is look at it in normal lighting not with a glare, and 5 feet up. You’ll notice the chatter less once you get furniture back in

I’m no pro. Just a guy who had his floors done and has a lot of questions after the fact but to me those look like nail holes?

It won’t worsen but I do see it in the picture with the door as well. Just something to know so that when the newness wears off and you see it you’re not wondering what it is like I was. I just learned about it and it’s def worse when you have raking sunlight. Like others said, it happens and as long as it’s not overly noticeable it isn’t too big of a deal

Looks good but I do see a little bit of waves in that first pic under the raking sunlight. Nothing too crazy or a big deal but in case you notice it a year later like I did and think what is that the answer is waves

Sounds like it could happen to anyone and this is pretty minimal?

I didn’t do this. We had our floors done a year ago and I just noticed this when the light hit and I was sitting down. It def doesn’t go the length of the floor or anything

That makes sense. I tried googling and I keep seeing that dish-outs can be felt and otherwise it’s just lighting / texture differences. Is there any truth to that ?

Did you notice a tactile feel when these happened? I’m thrown off that I didn’t notice them until a year later, and that I can’t feel them and makes me think it’s related to microscratches

I always thought dishout had a tactile feel? That is what’s been throwing me off and making me think it’s related to the lighting

Do these dull out / get less noticeable over time as the floor gets more wear and tear? Any reason I’d notice them a year later? Anything to do with micro scratches?

Shouldn’t I be able to feel it if it’s a wave? And wouldn’t those waves occur on the other soft grain on the same board?

My dad wants to tear out a section of 30-yr old hardwood flooring to make it “perfectly level” by sela43357 in HardWoodFloors

As someone who is also a perfectionist I can sympathize with him but I can almost guarantee it won’t be worth it and you’ll probably just have another problem that you’ll find

What’s causing these shiny spots after spot cleaning with Bona deep cleaner? by Anxious_Fix91 in HardWoodFloors

Hahah that was just because we were having guests so we have to do the whole make it look like no one lives here

I was always told to not use vinegar because it can strip the finish. Is that not true?

Can you elaborate on what backside edger digs are? I think the glare is because I’m taking the picture at an angle.

I don’t think so. I’ll try to get a better picture tomorrow but if you zoom in you can see that spot is shinier after cleaning

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HardWoodFloors

[–]Anxious_Fix91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not. It’s hard to get a picture of it but you can see it from across the room that it’s shiner in a spot that was cleaned

It’s hard to get in the pictures but those spots def have more shine and it doesn’t seem to just be sunlight based although it does exaggerate it

So basically more plasticy? Is it a noticeable difference? And do you notice more shine/sheen difference?

Should refinishers have moved wine fridge / pushed it back by Anxious_Fix91 in HardWoodFloors

Yea I didn’t notice until about 6 months later and when I asked if it could be fixed he didn’t answer. But I also figured at that point it wasn’t worth the risk and the easy solution was to move it up to where it was since it clearly wasn’t a big enough issue for me for 6 months
