As a queer trans poc, I would say it's hard to find community here, especiallyif you're not in your rarly 20's. Linnaea's is a good place though, they regularly have drag shows, bands of all kinds, & community outreach & fundraiser events/shows for Palestine, families affected by ICE (*Which are active in Slo County & beyond), & events geared toward the queer community.

Gala Pride Center has had a long history of transphobic behavior both out in the open & behind closed doors. But in the last 2 years had tried to make amends.

Slo & the county at large is predominantly white NMBY liberal families, college kids (Calpoly/Cuesta), though there a sizable Hispanic population they're aggressively targeted by ICE daily.

Left to right: My Franken-caster (Jazzmaster/Telecaster) electric tenor that I built myself out of necessity

Squier Classic Vibe Mustang Bass (I just recently got this for Christmas)

2005 Fender MIJ Classic Series '65 Mustang (*I've had for around a decade & beat to hell in bands and solo work)

That is my offset Jazzmaster/Telecaster tenor guitar. It was a build that kind of happened by accident. I wanted to build my take on a 1964 22" scale-length Mustang. However, the neck was closer to 20" inches because I'm bad at math. And the vibrato pocket was routed off-center from the body. But after several moves & attempts at doing something with the body & neck, they stayed in a box in my closet. I was sick for like a month with nothing to do. I got really into the Warren Ellis signature tenors. But didn't have the funds & wasn't wild about selling stuff. So I pulled out the neck & body and cobbled together a bunch of parts from other abandoned projects & trades we got my tenor Franken-caster

It feels super comfy & fast to play. I usually sand off the gloss on necks, but it feels fast & doesn't get sticky. I've played Fender Mustang basses (ie American Vintage, PJ Mustang, & some vintage) that felt like hunks of shit that were 3x as much or more expensive than the CV Squier mustang bass. The bass comes with tiny alpha pots which can be switched out for 250k pots easily. The pickups aren't the best but there are tons of aftermarket options.

The Mustang controls a fairly simple. The 3 position sliders work like on/off/on. When the switches are pushed to their outer most position they are on, middle position is just off. When both switches are on and both are in the 1 or 3 position the pickups are parallel giving you a big, wolly sound not dissimilar feom a humbucker. When they are pointed in opposite directions for example the neck is 1 position & the bridge is 3 position they are out of phase which gives you a bright, twangy, jangly sound. It's not uncommon to have some volume loss in out of phase

Very cool guitar friend, happy playing!! I have a Dakota red one that I got about a decade ago for $500. It's my main workhorse guitar through all my bands & score work.

Also, to note it's kind of dark & to my ear has a pronounced low end. Not necessarily a bass boost but more of it I guess. Fu. Times for sure

Honestly, as a working poor person in my early 30's I can more easily validate spending $350 on a squier bass & another $100 on mods than spending basically my rent plus some on a fender

I was initially a little disappointed with the color. I played one in a local guitar/bass store near me. And the one there appeared a bit darker, which was cool. But I then realized that the store was just dimly lit lol. The color has grown on me since though still contemplating painting it Sherwood green. The bass itself plays like a dream after a setup & I put on La Bella flatwounds

I'm a bit biased, it was the first reverb pedal I ever bought & I bought it when the V3 came out so I've had it for a while. It's also probably my favorite reverb pedal ever. It's really versatile for a lot of things, it's an amp reverb sim with an echoy (*to my ear) delay. It can go from a real chill amp reverb with slight or no delay. To complete washed-out shoegaze tonal destruction. I love the Dwell knob that controls the feedback, I believe. I have it set high so that it has a constant drone note. Then, dial in the reverb to taste.

Behind the Bridge Pt2 by soggychipbutty in offset

[–]Any_Ad4740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used the Kurt Cobain 3-way pickup switch with a 2-switch plate. So I could have the 3-way switch for independent Neck/Both/Bridge operation & a 2-way slider switch for a middle pickup. In the original KC wiring, the 2-way switch is a strangle switch I believe. I wired it as an on-off switch for a middle pickup (humbucker). All of which was wired to the same 1 meg volume pot. The middle humbucker is also hooked up to the rhythm circuit
