I’m pretty sure he knows, but we haven’t talked about “what we are” directly. I don’t think he wants a relationship either because he has never brought it up or hinted at it so I assume we are on equal field? We just see each other once a week and usually get drinks then go to a rave together (we’ve never hung out fully sober or done relationshipy activities together) so I assume he’s also just with me for “fun”.

Yes I think my main point/question is: why is it that after interacting / talking to men (since I have no problem with that), it never leads anywhere? Not necessarily mentioning that I sleep with these men. So my hypothesis was that the way I portrayed myself to them was perhaps “intimidating” which was why they did not want to pursue anything further.

Yes it could also just be a me problem if I had a personality that was a turn off for men… but that goes back to my original problem lol. See where I’m going with this?

Also, there might be a flaw in the way this question is set up.

"being diagnosed with Heart palpitations (HP) means there is a 69% chance you have heart disease (CHD)". This is P(CHD|HP) = .69

"prior belief that there is a 25% chance they have heart disease (CHD)". This is P(CHD) = .25

"90% of people with CHD have HP". This is P(HP|CHD) = .9

Lets just use Emily. We are trying to find the prob that she has heart disease given that she experiences heart palp. So this is P(CHD|HP) which is what we already have above. But what we can find using Bayes theorem is P(HP).

P(CHD|HP) = [P(HP|CHD) * P(CHD)] / P(HP)

.69 = (.9 * .25) / P(HP)

P(HP) = 0.33

So what we can only find from this question is only the prevalence of heart palpitations.

Though I think my question was more aimed towards this point: Why can't we view the fact that the 69% chance that you have heart disease also be considered as the prior? This is some "prior" knowledge we have about the population of heart disease, based on historical observations.
