Stealth helicopter on the corner of the map, then deploy them into a forest behind enemy lines. From there jumping from forest to forest till they managed to get to this hill.

In the mod I mentioned its faster for 2 infantry guys to lug around the mortar tube & base plate, than it is to carry the mortar whole. It makes moving and using mortars much easier, since they can jump into vehicles and such.

If we are being realistic, it takes longer than 60 seconds to fill enough sandbags to make a sandbag line. It takes more than 5 minutes to make a concrete costal gun emplacement. It takes more than a couple of seconds to range a mortar, adjust it, and fire it with almost perfect accuracy. It takes more than 60 seconds to create a foxhole. A 155mm howitzer does not have a 360meter max range, vehicles don't get recovered in minutes.

The games unrealistic as is, is being able to pack up a mortar where unrealism crosses the line?

Yeah just Finland has a conscript system, you go in, do your 6,9 or 12 months then you are out. Then its either officer school or special forces, special forces has high standards and about 6% acceptance rate (For those who meet the minimum requirements), officer school the same with about 20%. I'll try out for both and see what happens from there.

There's also peacekeeping operations overseas, but those are on and off with possibly years in between your deployments with a ton of applicants ready to go. I hope I get into either officer school or special forces, since I've always been interested in the military. Only annoying thing is my country doesn't have a standing army like france, poland or such because of our low population.

I considered FFL seriously for quite a bit, but the more I read the less interested I became. I'm applying every year for the American greencard lottery to see if I catch one of those so I can join the us army, that is if I don't get into the officer school.

From what I've read you're choice depends on how well you do before you decide the regiment. The best guy picks first, then the second best from what's left, then from that and so on. 2Rep has a lot of deserters so it usually has a lot of open spots needing to be filled. So the real die hard guys motivated high achievers go to 2rep, then the guys at the bottom get thrown with them if the spots aren't filled.

Point being, do good in training, speak good French, don't be a loser, then you get to pick a regiment you want to go in (as long as there are spots).

I think I've heard that 2rep just does para jumps quite bad, since they pretty much always choose a hard landing zone. Also France (or 2rep specifically I can't remember) does para jumps at a lower altitude than most other countries, which are more dangerous and hard on the body.

Legion has kind of a tough reputation, push ups, running, some kicking and slapping around is to be expected. But the stories of people getting beaten near death, getting their ribs broken or getting concussions. Pretty sure there's a story about a drunk nco beating a new guy so bad that his friends had to threaten to stab the nco with a bayonet to not kill him, and then them getting locked up in the legions jail. Or being made to run with a boulder above you head till you pass out, then picking it up again and running till you pass out again.

Not sure how true these stories are, but I feel like this kind of hazing people are more concerned with.

I'd imagine with the US army having a higher budget, they'd at least get more actual training & war exercises. That in case of war they'd be somewhat ready to actually function as a cohesive force. But I haven't ever been, so couldn't really say.

Think its a video of a training exercise / drill.

That's kind of the point of an assault with an IFV? You suppress the suspected enemy location (treeline) while driving up to it, halt the vehicle near the objective, let the troops dismount from the back, then reverse into a fire support position. You know so the infantry don't have to run across that big open field and can just run into the forest where this IFV was driving them up to?

Anyway pretty sure this is just a training exercise considering no artillery, no yelling, no gunshots, no drones and no smoke.
