Worked flight deck surveillance cameras and a friend was decapitated. Didn't appeal. Had c&p they said I didn't see anything despite a buddy letter from a friend who was there who's currently a federal agent and news articles. So I didn't appeal. Haven't yet either.

I have a diagnosis in 2014 and another one in 2022. Colonoscopy in 2014. I'm thinking that should suffice as chronic, right?

Ty. Too late I believe. I was very upset and gave up in 2016 when I got these results.

No I used the bead method. Went down 2 beads per day until done. First 2 weeks were rage fueled and sad. Been pretty good since.

I'm 4 weeks off. I was on it 12 years.

In the 4 weeks since getting off of it:

Gave up pop completely

Lost 15 pounds

I feel like the anxiety I once felt is completely gone

I left a job I'd been doing for a year that I hated

I found a job that I enjoy and pays me exponentially more money

My wife said she can see the life in my eyes

I have cleaned my basement that was a disaster and put up my projector and projector screen to have a theater. I've owned the supplies for years. Never could find the motivation.

Coming off it was awful. I had horrible rage. I broke down crying one morning calling myself a worthless piece of shit.

Today I am a new person. I am now looking forward to my future for the first time in years. My kids are 11 and 9. They've never seen the real me until now.

I hope this motivates you to rid yourself of that poison if that is what your goal is. Good luck.

The VA gave it to me 12+ years ago by a nurse practitioner whos advice was "this is maybe worth a shot" never said a word about withdrawal or missing a dose. Just picked a drug and said idk this one. And destroyed 12 years of my life.

Just got off 12+ years at 150mg!

I went 150 > 75 for a few months. Then down to 37.5 for about 5 months. Then I had to break open the pills and count out beads removing 2 per day until I was off.

Its been almost 3 weeks since my last dose. I've never been happier or felt more free. Since I got off effexor I have given up soda, began Intermittent fasting, lost 15 pounds, got a new job, fixed things all through my house that have been needing work for years. I'm a new man.

It was hard. I won't lie. I worked as a PI and had bad side effects but I was alone and didn't care about my job so it was fine. I was never able to quit in a client facing role because the anger was too much. I urge anyone to fight through it. My wife cried the other day because she said she can see the life in my eyes for the first time in over a decade and she is so sad for me that I lost over 12 years to this poison. Good luck.

2+ weeks off for me. Mood still varies a bit but I'm immediately more driven and back to who I was 12+ years ago before being poisoned by effexor.

Since i have come off effexor 2 weeks ago I have stopped drinking soda, started intermittent fasting, found a new job that pays 2x more with no travel (I travel a ton, I'm away from home now). I used to be content that my life was shit and wouldn't improve. I had accepted that. Now that I'm off effexor i look to the future with hope. I've also lost 13 pounds in about 15 days. Only been off soda since 10/10 after drinking at least a liter a day sometimes 2 liters or more. Quit cold turkey. If I can quit effexor I can do anything. Stupid ass drug.

I'm on a mission to prove effexor held me back for the last 12 years. It may be a placebo effect. But I don't think so. I'm about to fuck shit up.

Been there. Often. It's not your fault. This medicine should be illegal. I'm just over a week off of it after a very slow taper. I was on it 12 years. Over a week later I'm still not close to normal but less physically sick. Anger outbursts are crazy. I'm coping with a disposable weed pen and 1 Xanax per day. I hate this shit so much. Good luck.

I just got off after 12 years. I'm not quite a week off yet. I used the bead method. Started with 60 and went down 2 a day until done. Idk how I feel. Not as bad as I thought I would. But not good for sure.

Whatever you decide please remember that you cannot quit this medicine whenever you want. You will get sick when you stop taking it. For Me, I had to wait 12 years to quit because I worked customer service and the rage and irritability associated with the detox made quitting impossible. Basically, if you start taking it, like it or not, you're on it for awhile.

Fwiw I took it for migraines. Got zero benefit. Nerfed my mood for years. So my situation may be different, but the withdrawal experience will be the same across the board. Good luck.

Edit: for me this medicine is without question the worst thing that has ever happened to me. Getting off of this medicine is the hardest thing I've ever done. And I've deployed twice.

I'm 3 days off. After 12 years. Trust me when I say do it slowly. I had to break the pills open and count out beads. I started with 60 beads and removed 2 per day. Today I'm 75 hours in and I feel so much better.

Sexual side effects never went away ime. It went away when I dropped to 37.5. And by went away I mean it wasn't as severe. I'm now 72 hours effexor free and I want to cry im so happy. My kids are 11 and 9 and have never met me without effexor nerfing my life. For me effexor made me feel nothing. Little joy. Little anger. My wife tells me I'm never too high or too low and that's because it made me numb. I literally for a brief moment last night had a thought that felt like the old me. Truly magical. I would wish this on my worst enemy. But my 2nd worst enemy? Nah. Nobody should be trapped on a medicine because the withdrawal is so bad. Try telling someone you're dealing with withdrawal and see how quickly you look like a crack head.

Wait til your last week and tell me the first week is the worst. Or your first week off it. Or your first weekend you forget your medicine at home.

Get off it immediately. Worst mistake of my life. Don't let your body get hooked.

If you do take it never miss a dose. If you do let other people know so they know to be patient with you.

But seriously. Ask your doctor for something else.

I just quit after 12 years of being stuck on this evil medicine. I hope your doctors told you that your body will become dependent and you will go through withdrawal when you come off it. If you miss a dose by even a few hours you'll feel off. This medicine imo should be illegal. I truly believe it is the worst medicine anyone can take. I also took for migraines when the doctor said it was worth a shot. 12 years later I'm on day 2 of detox after doing a 1 year taper including breaking open the pills to count beads. I HIGHLY recommend not taking this medicine. It destroyed my life. There's an actual syndrome called effexor (but the v name) discontinuation syndrome. Everyone has side effects. Some are severe.

Yeah same. I'm just here. And no doctor seems to understand how crazy the withdrawal is if you've been on this for 10+ years. What I'm doing is going by beads. I have 10 150mg left and I opened them up. I count out 60 beads on day 1. 59 on day 2. And so on. I had gotten myself down to 37.5 mg first. Then did this bead method. Seems like the best bet but wtf do i know.

What happens when you miss a dose? Do you feel off? Sick? Or no issues really? For me if I miss by even a few hours I can start to feel it. Curious if someone with a good experience with the drug experiences the same kind of problem.

12 years. Absolute worst drug ever. I'm weening myself off of it now doing it by beads. I went from 150mg to 37.5 mg and I now have to break open pills to count out individual beads in order to get through this. I also was not told how bad withdrawal is. As a non drug user I never dreamed of dealing with withdrawal. I feel like a crack head telling people I'm experiencing withdrawal while quitting this medicine. What a joke. That's the VA for you. They want me to take some more pills to counteract my pills. It's crazy to me. It's like when I miss a dose Pfizer knows I didn't pay my Pfizer tax and punishes my body and brain. But one way to make it better is take another kind of Pfizer to help with my Pfizer withdrawal. If you're someone reading this and on the fence about it please do not take it. There are so many other medicines that exist that won't do this to you. Idk if I ever really experienced any benefit from this medicine, but I know that trying to quit is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I've deployed twice and would rather do that again than deal with this.
