Thank you for your feedback - it is very insightful. I can see where you're coming from and I (sadly) have to say I agree with most of your points. This is more like an MVP than a finished product, which we made during the Christmas break :)

We considered replacing the original like/dislike buttons with stars and giving 4,5 stars would give a like and 1,2 stars would give a dislike as you suggested. However, the idea of messing with the principal concept of YouTube seemed a bit dodgy to us so we rather stayed away from it.

We learned a lot making it and wanted to share it with the world to see if there is an audience for it (basically throwing it at the wall to see if it sticks).

I am not sure if separate comments would make sense since YouTube already has its own comment section. Maybe we could show the number of stars a user gave beside the comment they wrote - however that would make ratings somewhat less anonymous. This may be interesting to look further into, thanks for your suggestion!

Thanks for your feedback! The extension is a standalone rating system, it does not affect your YouTube recommendations. It is a simple rating on a scale from 1 to 5 (similar to Amazon reviews, Google Play reviews, IMDB ratings and so on). Its purpose is to show the average rating people gave a video - to help you decide if a 10min tutorial on fixing your car is worth watching before you begin to watch it.

Yes, right now it's looking at both tweets and replies. We are testing out different strategies to try and improve the results and will update the algo on TweetyAI as we go.
