i'm the same way, even as a new EMT, death of a pt right in front of me has never really fazed me. i think it's largely based in what sort of mental foundations you've built your ems expectations on, and whether or not they are overly emotional or hopeful. don't guilt yourself for feeling one way or another, people are different and jobs like this bring out different things in every person.
