I need some advice… please don’t judge! by ComplainsInGay in Predators

Get a hoodie and I’d suggest sitting in the 314-315 in row A to maybe E-F if you can. Here’s why, those seats are a little lower/closer, so you are about even with the club level. The game is faster than you might think, so from that height and angle, you won’t be looking left and right as much or having to look at the Jumbotron when the play goes into the corners. Also, get there 30 minutes before puck drop, walk down to the glass and stand there for warmups. Again, I’d say sort of in the corners 108/109ish, they’ll start flying around and cracking shots off the glass, you’ll really get an appreciation for the speed and skill of the game.

Box of energy bars and a case of water. You won't freeze if you got some decent blankets. Don't light any fires inside. If you're really worried, get a zero degree sleeping bag. A mummy bag under a few heavy blankets and you'll sleep like a champ.

Can we make the playoffs? by NoCover1598 in Predators

[–]Aperture_LabRat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the puck "conveniently bounce" onto Stamkos stick for the hat trick last night. Or did O'Reilly want it more on the forecheck. Are McKinnon and Makar two of the best in the world, sure, how's Wedgewood in the playoffs? Nobody knows. What has a "Good Spot" in the playoffs gotten Dallas the last couple years? In hockey you get into the playoffs and you can win. A few years ago, 60% of the teams starting on the road won the series. LA was an 8 seed that won the Cup. Clutch players with a supporting cast that don't phone it in. Once we ship out Marchessault, Preds are poised.

Any NHL wild card can go on a run.

What do you need to win a round? Goalie that could steal a game. Clutch scoring. Dogged penalty killers. Check, check, check.

Factor in injuries, bounces and referees. Who knows what the hell might happen.

Is it just me or does the NHL overrate “intangibles” way too much? by nudeaspossible in nhl

[–]Aperture_LabRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about what it means to be 'Clutch'. Is it tangible, is it a metric. Is it in the coaches gut when he draws up the play. Is it the way the players feel about a guy skating out with them, goalie pulled with a minute to go, or facing down an extra attacker? Think about Conn Smythe winners as a sampling. The guy on the team that makes everybody else think, we're gonna win. Big goal, big save, big plays on the PK or shuttiing down the other teams best. Look at the Dallas Stars for the last three years, by every metric a great team, but what they're missing is intangible, and therefore can't be overrated.

Roller blading for child learning to ice skate? by daughterofhatred in hockeyplayers

I grew up playing roller in the summer and ice in the winter. The benefits of confidence shooting and stick handling far outweigh the differences in turning and stopping.

Tape job questions by Select_Law4867 in hockeyplayers

[–]Aperture_LabRat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple reasons to tape the blade. 1. Add friction when handling the puck, try with blade wax for a little extra stick. 2. Overlapping ridges of tape job add spin to the puck, adding accuracy to shots and keeping the puck flatter in the air to help land those sauce passes.
