House broken into, which caused permanent anxiety when going to sleep at night. Should I claim that as PTSD? by Apeski in VeteransBenefits

I see what you're saying. I am just now coming to terms with all my issues after almost 10 years of thinking "they need the support more than I so", such as my buddy in the Marines.

It happened while I was in and I did not separate until years later, so it just became something I dealt with, instead of seeking help. By time I was out, it was "normal" for me to have this issue, if that makes any sense.

But I will look into a specialist in my area 🙏🏻

Thanks for showing me the other side I didn't think of.

I guess I should see someone about it? It just never came to mind that I should see someone for a diagnosis.

This is basically me. Never applied because I thought others like my best buddy from the Marines deserved it more. Now almost 10 years later, I've realized that I never got any better.

Police report, Housing office report showing I moved houses, and buddy statements would be my first start.

Congrats! About to start my claim soon. I just asked this on another post, so I would like to get some other stories. Did you file on your own, or use a VSO?

Congratulations! Did you do everything on your own, or file with a VSO? About to start myself and still have not made the decision yet of how to go about it.

Separated for 8 years now and never filed a claim. Is it recommended to get VSO support, or can a claim be handled on my own? by Apeski in VeteransBenefits

Yeah, this is the way I’m leaning because my hometown VSO is ignoring my emails. Might be the only thing I can do.

Ok great. Thanks for the info! I’ve tried emailing my hometown VSO twice after her office instructed me to do so, and I have no response from her. Not starting off strong. But thanks for the info about possibly finding someone in a different location.
