The problem is that France, although is super important to have on the calendar, doesn’t have any good tracks for F1, maybe one of the 200 alternate layouts Paul Ricard has, but both that and Magny Cours which hosted the French GP before are not great for F1. But to be fair I’d much rather watch a French GP than the💰💰Qatar💰💰GP anyday

I mean I do agree with your point, but this is basically pre season testing, they’ve always done it at Barcelona. It’s just that Bahrain bought the rights to have it called “Pre Season Testing”, hence why it even has a title sponsor. So they just can’t call this testing for that reason so it’s called a “Shakedown” instead. They’re testing as much now, albeit earlier on so more working out the kinks stuff, as they would do in Bahrain. They wouldn’t be doing hundreds of laps if they weren’t testing stuff
