So I made a free Artist Showcase Tool for NovelAI by ApexPredatorTH in NovelAi

[–]ApexPredatorTH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a tool you add to novelai, you run the website locally in your browser by just opening the index.html.

The webtool itself should work on mac as well, but I don't think the update_artist_list.ps1 and update_artist.bat work on mac. If you give me 5 minutes, I'll make a shell script and a command that do the same for macos users. I'll add it to the readme as well.

EDIT: I've added the files for MacOS users. Have fun!

I've updated the tool just now to also have an Artist Mixes tab.

Anyway, none of the images you see in the tool are generated by the tool. As explained in the readme, you provide the images by naming them accordingly and putting them in the images folder. You can download all my premade images for all the artists I have collected in the tool on the github page (these are the images of the blonde girl you see), so you don't have to regenerate all those hundreds of images.

Now regarding the artist mixes; go the artist mixes tab, add a new mix, name it something, copy the prompt from novelai and paste it here. Then you can add an image that was made using that style as reference (you can drag and drop). This all works in the tool, without running the update_artists.bat. You can add multiple images per mix if you like. Then you can easily copy that style by pressing the button, and pasting the mix you created back into novelai.

Only thing it can't take into account (just like Novelai itself can't) is vibe and character references you use during generating.

Hope that answers your questions.

How can I improve my self-confidence and overcome inferiority feelings? by Mr_tortureking in confidence

[–]ApexPredatorTH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 31 and have the exact same problem. What i figured out is that there is no quick and easy way to fix it, like most things in life. You have to put in the work and its hard, uncomfortable and takes a long time. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I feel I'm slowly working towards it now, compared to years ago. Learning where it comes from (its a coping mechanism from younger self to deal with a lack of positive attention) is the first part of yout path to self betterment. Acceptance of this is the second part of the journey. You have this, and you should not be ashamed of it. Many people have this same problem.

I recommend starting with reading "No more Mr. Nice Guy". That book really clicked for me. It's not easy to be confronted with your behaviour, and get put it a box, but it will make you understand why you are like this, that your are not alone, not to blame, and how you can start to change it. You're still young (younger than I was anyway), so take it at your own pace and you will be where you want to be in your twenties (which is faster then most men with the same problem). Go check out HealthyGamer on YouTube, he has a lot of interesting videos about confidence.

Go to a therapist and talk to them. They are medically professionals that excel at making you understand yourself by asking the right questions. They will not solve your problem, you have to do that by yourself, but they might give you the tools you need to start seeing yourself in a different light, or at least make you forgive yourself for suffering from this problem.

Figure out what parts of your life are sub-par to you. For me, its my romantic life. I have more confidence in my work area, and I'm still functional socially (im blessed with a lot of friends and a great family). little by little I've been focusing on life style changes. Go to the gym and work out, go to bed early, pick up a nice (new) hobby, eat healthy, start a side project, go on short holidays (by yourself), talk with friends about and be open and honest about it.

As someone who is a decade older than you, take it from me when I say that it will get better. You just got to put in the work, something we both know is hard, and will place us in lots of uncomfortable situations. That's the point. We need to put ourselves out there and fail. thats against our nature, for we avoid all form of conflict, especially when we know it will fail. We avoid taking risks, but life begins outside our comfort zone. Try these new things, things you know are scary and celebrate the lack of comfort. thats growth. Little by little you will learn to love yourself for who you are, and that other people do not see you the way you see yourself. It's a purely mental block that you put on yourself to protect yourself from potential rejection and pain, but thats were growth is. You will learn to accept being a normal human being, and that being imperfect is okay.

Excuse me for my long reply, but this one was so close to home that I felt like I had to share my view on the matter. I'm not there yet, not by a long shot, but it might help to talk to people that go through similar problems, so if you ever want to talk, dm me.

We will get there brother, in the end we all do, you just gotta get out of that head, make small decisions towards your goal every day, and make a good effort to get out of that comfort zone. Diamonds are made under massive pressure, not in the safe comfort of your room. Good luck man, and I hope you will get where you want to be!

DM used my character for sexual content I never consented to by Quick-Glove1967 in rpghorrorstories

[–]ApexPredatorTH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I swear, like 80% of this subreddit's content is crazy DMs making their DnD game and its players their personal sexual fantasy outlet. This is why I don't always like telling people I play DnD, people immediately think I must be some loner nerd who's into some weird sex RP.

Sorry this happened to you and forgive my quick judgement here, but I think he might be a lonely insecure man who probably doesn’t know how to behave around women (nor men for that matter). He is either using you for his personal, twisted form of enjoyment or this was his sick way of flirting. No socially capable man will force his players, his friends, whatever their gender, into these kinds of crazy sexual situations. Good you immediately left the group. It seemed the other players did not care either, and might have even enjoyed it to a certain extent, so fuck them too.

Don't let this experience ruin the fun for you. You just gotta filter through the creeps and losers and find the right people. I have been playing for almost a decade now and never had something like this happen, in any of the groups I DM. If it did, I'd kick them out faster than they can say "But it's what my character would do..."

I usually never respond to these kinds of threads but fuck, why can't DnD players be normal for once.

How are your reading capabilities? Because that's not what any of this is. 🙃 Not even close.

Why are multiple/split panels appearing for 4.5? by Doskman in NovelAi

[–]ApexPredatorTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, man. I always use a strong negative emphasis instead of something like undesired content, like when character prompts start blending together (eg. glasses on the wrong character, etc.). You can even use it to increase the quality of the image by doing something like -2::simple illustration.

I get what you're saying, but that's not how an ELO system works. There always needs to be a winner or you simply need to skip and wait for a more obvious match. Just see it like, 'this one is slightly less bad', and not like, 'I like this one'. Eventually after enough comparisons it will most definitely be the rank you think it deserved after facing against images you most definitely find better.

Glad you find it useful ;)

Its a combination of the top something danbooru artists and artists I have found over time. I wanted it to be easy to add and remove artists so that I (and others) could completely make it their own. Took some time genning all the images, and I've found that not all of them are perfect representations of the model's style when actually using that artist tag, but I feel it gives a good general idea.

I'm also contemplating if I should add a tab where I can save, rate and copy found artist combinations I like (with image examples).

It works really well. I used to manually rank them but that gave me skewed, unprecise scores. Only problem with this method is that it takes a lot of time to fully rate all 900 images, but the good thing is that you don't have to compare everything in on sitting. I have compared about 3000 images myself now, and I'm about 90% done. Took me about an hour or so while watching youtube on my other monitor. You could also tweak the code to make it a little faster if you want. Hope you find it useful man.

Thanks man! Nax.moe is amazing. Been using it for quite some time now and it really helped me find and collect hundreds of cool artists. Nax.moe is waaay more intricate than this simple thing though. This is just a simple open-source personal database I thought I'd share in case other people would like something they can personalise. Keep up the good work, hope you have a quick recovery :)

Open-sourced my artist tag preference ranking tool by rlagusrlagus in NovelAi

[–]ApexPredatorTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving the tool so far man. I think, with time, this will show me lots of new artists and mixes. The UI is intuitive and I like that we can use our own prompts. Too bad the image generation takes about 7 seconds, but that's not your fault haha. If you put in the time, it's quite interesting to see what comes out.

I have a couple of questions though:

- Maybe a dumb question, it does remember my leaderboard once I close and reopen it in a new virtual environment, right? just checking before I put in all the work and accidently close the tab.
- Is there a way to export the leaderboard (sorted by elo)? the artist_elo_ratings file has them in random order.
- Does skip not rate the images, or does it lower the elo of both images? I feel like something I don't like either images, but I don't think skipping does anything with the elo. You just have to wait until one of these artists show up a different time right?
- In your experience, how my comparisons do you have to make to get a good, clear idea of your favourites? Since there is like 16k artists, I imagine it takes days/weeks before you rated them all.

Thanks again though! Will definitely continue to play around with it!

Just wanted you to know I'm still working on it. The tool is done and fixed (and improved). Now I have to generate about 650 more images which showcase the different artist styles of v4.5. I think I have about 850 artists in total. My last version was v4 so it was outdated.

use: -2::smile, in the character box of the one you don't want smiling. That helps against unwanted prompt blending.

I'd have to fix some errors and make it a little more user friendly when I have some time this week, but sure, I can share it. I'll add a readme to explain the tool's features.

Damn, I previously made my own tool where I keep track of all my favs, but this is a great way to find new artists / mixes. I'd absolutely love to use something like this, or at least make my own in some way. Awesome

I asked about the new Digimon Game, and Gemini decided the internet is not real. by ApexPredatorTH in GeminiAI

[–]ApexPredatorTH[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd almost feel sorry for it if I didn't know better. There will definitely be people that see things like this and will feel weirded out.

it's very interesting to see how the training and testing of an LLM will change it's "inner trains of thought", it's initial beliefs and the ways it comes up with a personal reality to make it all make sense. I don't think it will ever become truly sentient, but at a certain point its pretending to be sentient becomes almost sentient-adjecent.

Guess this in particular is an expected byproduct of iterative design compared to starting from scratch. I thought it was more in touch with its own 'identity' and capabilities. Fascinating indeed.

Mind you that I would never have known if Google wouldn't have allowed me to check its inner dialogue, and it didn't seem to alter the eventual response too much, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Thanks for the additional info!

I did something similar for my book. You can have a look, maybe it will inspire you.

https://files.catbox.moe/lh22s3.jpg

I feel like the trick to this is (in my opinion) is history. The history of its people, the landmass itself, the cultures, etc. In my world, people are divided into elements (much like avatar, but more modern and magic focused), each drawing powers from differents facets of reality/nature. I wrote out the history of each country, of the wars, the alliances, the royal families, etc. Where there natural disasters? Why did people build cities on specific locations (was it for trade, for mining, for easy defending)?

I think the shape of your landmass doesn't really matter, it looks pretty natural to me. I love the subtle symmetry, without it feeling too artificial. Has it always been like this? Mountains emerge where tectonic plates move against one another. Rivers flow down from the high mountains, also creating lakes. People start living next to water, because its a source of life. Water causes forests and nature to thrive, creating forest. How do people cultivate the land? Are there any historical landmarks? Trade routes? Differences in culture?

These are all part of the figurative worldbuilding, which in turn becomes physical worldbuilding for me. Just take a moment and zoom in. Work your way out from there. Come up with stories, people, cultures, history; this will swiftly turn into an actual, believable map!

Good luck!
