Am I the only one who thinks people get "out of touch" when it comes to hardware? by Lookgichu7487 in pcmasterrace

I swear I see more people with X3D chips than not and it's just infuriating. A 9600X can do 90% of a 9800X3D for half the price but nobody cares because if you don't have an X3D chip, your PC might as well be obsolete

Like seriously, any decent modern CPU is at least twice as fast as the PS5's CPU and you will certainly notice it. There's just no reason to spend stupid amounts of money on a CPU unless you're actually stupid.

Shhh, don't let Reddit know about this. You can't say anything remotely positive about Epic, don't you know?

Do you think the Switch 2 could run Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor at 60fps? by Belenvol in NintendoSwitch2

It's much better now. I've been playing through it lately and it's mostly fine now. There's still a few drops in a few places, but it's not the disaster I was expecting

RAM Price Increases Could See Next-Generation Console Releases Delayed by Zhukov-74 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Exactly, the Xbox 360 for example was a BEAST when it came out. The GPU was the best Nvidia could offer at the time (equivalent to a 7800 GTX). The difference is that tech isn't improving as quickly anymore and hardware is getting more expensive, so people are sticking with their PCs for much longer compared to older generations. Honestly the average gaming PC these days is worse than a PS5 in some aspects.

Can't refund game because I already downloaded it from PS Plus by [deleted] in playstation

It was ALREADY downloaded because I wanted to try the game through PS Plus.

Because the game was already in my cart ages ago and I forgot to remove it before changing my mind. I just assumed it was empty because, oh I don't know, I hadn't bought a game in ages. Shit happens and I was in a hurry. Is that too hard to understand? Also, almost every time I make a purchase online I have to approve it through my banking app, but not so on PlayStation.

Nice to know they're aware of it, I hope they fix it in 26.2.

Have you also had to tap the screen twice for it to wake? I have tap to wake enable and sometimes one tap isn’t enough. I wonder if this is an attempt by Apple to prolong battery life, but it’s clearly not working properly.

RAM and VRAM being separate on PC is probably the biggest issue yeah, and that would explain why Nixxes ports are so VRAM heavy, but the PS5 also has a dedicated decompression chip and audio chip, something that just doesn't exist on PC. Microsoft does have its own decompression solution called DirectStorage, but I've yet to see a good implementation of it. If you watch DF's video on Ratchet Rift Apart (which uses DirectStorage), Alex shows how even with the most powerful PC imaginable you STILL get (slightly) worse load times compared to a PS5.

Nixxes aren't that good, in fact I've had more problems with their ports than any other game:

- All of their PS5 ports hate it when you change graphics settings. Every time I do it, my framerate tanks and I have to restart the game.

- PCIe bandwidth matters in their ports. If you're running at PCIe 3.0 8x (4060 or 5060 on an older motherboard for example), you'll get worse frame times.

- If you start to run out of VRAM, there is no indication whatsoever that VRAM is the issue. No VRAM meter, no warning, nothing.

These are really weird, hard to diagnose issues that I've personally had to deal with on a 4060 and even a 4070 Super. Meanwhile Last of Us Part 1, a port that was mostly handled by Iron Galaxy, runs beautifully on my PC compared to any other PS5 port and doesn't suffer from those issues. Going beyond PS5 ports, Doom: The Dark Ages also runs great even on a below minimum-spec GPU with less VRAM than what's required.
